Thought Experiment: How Good Could e-Bikes Get?

Having the luxury of owning both an E bike and a full suss enduro bike I’ve stopped riding my e bike, at least over summer. I find for me cycling is the pursuit of fitness, I love the reward and feeling I get from a big day out on the bike. Pedalling up the climbs to thrash it down, and whilst sure it’s actually hilarious how quickly you can go up on my turbo Levo after 6 months of using it the novelty of has worn off and like I say, I haven’t ridden the e bike since July. Also note I believe riding an E bike doesn’t make you as fit as a normal bike, not even close! Finally I can see why people enjoy them, I have a friend who just started biking and without an E bike he wouldn’t manage some of the big group rides we do so the bike has 100% enabled him to join in. But will he ever be as fit as everyone who slogs it out on the normal bikes? Ps I’ll ride one when I’m retired though for sure!
