@VtVolk: I can almost see how a 2x could work, where you essentially can slam the shifter in one direction to change chainrings...but on a 3x. GTFO of here... Same for the rear. If you're on a commuter and don't care about going fast, sure, have at it.
But in janky, up and down tech trails, having to divert your focus on finessing a shift is a huge negative. Sorry. It just is. Your brain only has so much bandwidth to process stuff. It's what make the Shimano wandering bite point such a pain in the ass, as you have to account for it and adjust. Beside the weaknesses of the front derailleur, the great appeal of 1x is the simplicity.

the comment literally had nothing to do with who was actually riding the ebike on an XC course but the fact that it was an ebike on an XC course in a PB post...

@opignonlibre: The other positive for Grip shift is being able to dump the whole cassette in either direction if you either crest a hill or run into one.
