That's because that frame is on sale, normally ii is in fact $800 less. That $800 difference is R&D for proper geometry and the EVO is an Epic trying to be a Stumpy. The Epic Evo is also much more niche than the stumpy, so less units sold usually means a higher price per unit to cover manufacturing, R&D, etc. Besides that, I don't work for them, so I don't have much else info to give you, you've made a fair point, but there is a bit of x y and z philosophy that goes with XC bikes and their intended audience, I'm sure they have a secret kool aid formula for that or something.

First Look: 2023 Commencal T.E.M.P.O. - A New Short Travel Trail Bike
@foggnm: Working for a specialized shop, I'd say on paper a 4k SJ Alloy Camp is less value than the 4k Commencal, in fact the $3,200 Commencal is almost comparable to the SJ Alloy Comp, minus the SX/NX spec drivetrain.
The 4k Alloy Comp gives you the same suspension, but comes with an NX drivetrain, G2 brakes, and Roval traverse with sloppy hubs, hardly a better value than the 4k Commencal with a SLX drivetrain, TRP brakes and Dt swiss rims with formula hubs.
At least the SJ doesn't have headset routing?

@dthomp325: How much did SRAM pay you to say this? I mean, I'll say I just replaced my 11 speed GX derailleur atfer 3 seasons of abuse. Great stuff, but 12 speed... you are an exception to most experiences from what I've heard and seen.

@pdxjeremy: Every model has has an Aluminum version so far...just be patient. Carbon is the way to sell bikes like crazy and use the $$ from those sales to fund the alu run shortly after. They aren't a huge company like SC, Spesh or the likes... they don't have corporate parent companies that can fund a simultaneous run of both frame types... Isn't that why we've loved Transition all along?
