@rrolly: @rrolly: After having a number of frame failures on GIANT, I purposefully went with SALSA for my trail bike in 2017 to get away from weight-weenie race bred designs that seemed too delicate for my Clydesdale self. Salsa's "Adventure by Bike" slogan and reputation for making bikes that complete crazy rides like the Iditarod and Tour Divide races sold me on dependability. So yes I agree.. not everyone is looking for a bike proven in high level racing.
