Video: XC Sucks with Lief Rodgers
At least in my experience, the overly vocal "XC sucks" kind of people just tend to be a little out of shape and have pretty poor stamina. I don't disagree that XC sucks when you are gassed after 15 minutes of riding because you aren't used to pedaling your bike that much. It makes sense that you would have hate that. But it should also be pointed out that XC can be lots of fun. You just need to be in decent shape to have that fun.

Dylan is the man! Have been following him since he was pretty much only a bmx guy. His transition to mtb has been amazing to see. He is crazy talented, has a great attitude, and deserves all the success in the world.

Video: 'Honestly, It Elevated the Sport' - Aaron Gwin Discusses his Impact on World Cup Racing
Yea for real. I saw the title and was like "damn, Gwin kind of seems full of himself". But then I watched it and had the same thoughts as you. I guess just another example of why it's so important to read, or listen in this case, beyond the headlines and tweets.

The Mountain Bike Tech Infiltrating the Tour de France
@seanp241: This is the correct answer. Larger rotors do offer more braking power, but it doesn't really mean anything if that braking power can't be effectively used. Higher tire pressures and a small contact patch is only going to stop you so fast, no matter how much braking power you have.

Field Trip: Ibis's $2,999 Ripley AF is a Precision Weapon
Yea, kind of bizarre. I totally get having your personal preferences in brakes, but I think listing any of the major manufacturers as a pure "con" just shows some inherent bias. I personally don't like SRAM brakes, but I would never list them as a con when recommending a bike to someone if they came stock. Also, they are just brakes. Frankly, as long as they are decent and stop the bike, that's all you really need if you are going for a somewhat budget bike like this. If you end up really disliking them and want something different, changing brakes is pretty simple.

It definitely helps in the event that you get caught in that position. Especially for XC or more pedal heavy trail riding, being a bit ambidextrous does help. It's okay to still have a dominant foot, but just being more comfortable with the other can go a long way.

Video: Claudio Caluori Chases Nino Schurter Through the Jumps of Chur Bike Park
So fun to watch these videos of Nino shredding on a short travel bike. I know wayyy to many people riding bikes that are honestly just insanely excessive for how they ride and the terrain they are on.
