Spotted: New Shimano XTR
I use my 30-50 all the time. I was very happy to get a real granny gear when I switched from 28-42 1x11. I live in Colorado and I’m “old.” Sore knees and hips. Lots of miles weekly and I just can’t stop cuz I’m a MTB junkie for life. Air above 9k feet gets scarce and we ride to 12k often here. I like dinner plates with my 1x setup.

Winning Bike Check: Richie Rude's Yeti SB5.5 - EWS Olargues, France 2018
Size L 5.5: 442mm reach. Flipped stem and high rise bar doesn’t decrease reach like riser stem (or spacers under stem) and low rise bar. Lower headset spacer raises front end and makes the bike slightly slacker, but also slightly decreases reach in the process. Maybe he wants his bike a bit slacker and bars a bit higher without decreasing reach?

One Last Walk Through the Biggest Bike Show in California - Sea Otter 2018
Hopefully WTB comes out with a suitable replacement for the Breakout. That was a good rear tire and the tough casing was indeed tough. They shrank the casing on the last few of these tires I bought. Casing still marked 29 x 2.3, but it’s lost considerable volume; it’s lower profile and not as wide. Sending the unused ones back because besides the casing, one of the best things about the tire was it’s large volume. Gonna try the Aggressor 2.5 DD as a replacement.

Video: Practice Carnage - Lošinj DH World Cup 2018
Great to see Remi Thirion back at it. Great to see Tracy brush off what looked like a hard hit to the shoulder. This track looks extremely technical and tricky. I'm amazed to see so many riders with what looks like minimal pad coverage, several of the men not wearing gloves or elbow and shoulder pads, madness! In 8 years of DH racing in the 90's, my Dianese suit saved my arms, shoulders, and spine so many times I wouldn't have lasted long at all without it and I wasn't even one of the regular crashers. You could eat shit with that suit on and anything less than a major digger usually was a laughable affair.

Syncros Silverton SL One-Piece Carbon Wheels - Sea Otter 2018
Agree. Very cool F1 tech level stuff here. Curious about the claimed 100% increase in power transfer. I’m assuming they are talking about power loss through the spokes and rim in relation to the hub when pedaling hard. Are we really rotating the hub inside the spokes and loosing significant power when we stand up and mash on the pedals?
