Fashion vs. Fit: Is Longer Always Better? - Opinion
@0gravity: good point here. The worst wipeouts I’ve seen in the last 5 years among experienced riding friends have been pedal strikes. Not slow speed either, think cartwheeling off the side of the trail at high speed, some with bad injuries. Lots of embedded rock here in The Rockies that doesn’t always mix well with “lower” geo.

Carbon vs Aluminum: Separating Environmental Fact From Fiction in the Frame Materials Debate
Turner is right: squirrel cages. E bikes or no e bikes, carbon or metal, those who live near any population centers are destined for squirrels cages.

e*thirteen TRS Race SL Carbon Wheels - Review
PB, how about some back to back testing of all these carbon hoops you guys have reviewed? Same tires, same bike, blacked out decals, see which one is fastest, damps best, corners best, and held up? Just swap wheels and smash the same trails over and over to see if there really is that much of a difference?

e*thirteen TRS Race SL Carbon Wheels - Review
I agree. Not doubting the claim but I'd love to hear how they determined that and also how they acheived it with carbon layup while also decreasing the bead width by 0.5mm. How much of a difference is there between carbon hoops from brand to brand then? If it's legit, awesome, cuz the new ones will be twice as tough as the old... E13, can you comment?

Stan’s NoTubes Introduces Crest CB7 and Arch CB7 Rims and Wheelsets
@WAKIdesigns: I don’t know for sure but it seems like maybe it doesn’t have to flex outward in other areas very much when that one spot gets slammed in by the hammer. Perhaps it just deforms briefly at the strike site and very minimally elsewhere throughout its circumference and this small amount of flex spread around the whole rim is within the compliance of the hub/spoke/rim as a whole. In other words, when the give is spread out around the whole rim the wheel can handle the blow. Whatever the case, it’s a cool video and it looks like 10mm if vertical flex is possible without ill effects.

Stan’s NoTubes Introduces Crest CB7 and Arch CB7 Rims and Wheelsets
@WAKIdesigns: spokes go loose then retension. I’ve read Nox’s article discussing their view of vertical compliance and it makes sense, but numbers and equations don’t always tell the whole story. And yes, enough flex looks like it could poke the spoke nipple through the rim strip on inside.
