Here's an idea: Find sponsors outside the bike industry! It works in Road and CX and it used to work in MTB (it's been a while though). To rely solely on industry sponsors keeps budgets low in good times (there's just not as much money in bikes as some commenters want to believe), and breaks up teams in bad times. It's simply bad business, and apparently people suffer from bad business.

Gee Atherton Air-Lifted from the Red Bull Rampage Course After Crash in Practice [Updated with Injury Report]

I thought the same thing. This was such a huge drop - the acceleration force at impact, after an 18m+ freefall must have been incredible. A "normal" human would have simply folded and vanished. Gee Atherton, strong as an ox, held on but seemed to lose control on impact. Healing vibes to Gee. But man, as cool as his projects and videos are, I wish he'd take it down a notch. Honestly, what's the point in public self destruction?!

Loved the broadcast, joining in on this unpopular opinion with much joy. The "other guy" in the commentating box is Ric McLaughlin, btw. He's been commentating the EWS for a few years now. Seems like a very nice and knowledgeable person, and long time bike journalist who'sppublished for different bike media. Hope it's ok to commend this guy for a job well done, doing a commentating marathon over a three day race weekend, staying focused and switching from age categories to race disciplines, keeping eveybody entertained.

@mrtoodles: on GCN+ replay is available right away. Even during the live coverage, you can rewind to rewatch something. And as far as long term availability goes: MTB Wolrd Champs from last year are still available to watch right now. I've had the app for a few months now, mostly watching and rewatching road racing. They are doing a really good job.

Broadcast Details & Commentators Revealed for the 2023 World Cups

@Offrhodes: GCN+ Racing is the best thing that's ever happened to cycling and broadcasting! We stream live bike racing in the shop almost every day, then I go home and watch the replays. As you say, commenting is also spot on. If they do a similarly good job with mountainbiking it'll be fabulous.

Short offset forks: I remember, back in 2003 / 2004 making special short offset fork crowns for Gary Fisher 29er Mountainbikes, when working at Answer / Manitou. Might I say, Gary Fisher pushed the idea of progressive geometry with short fork offset and short stems first, back in the early 2000's.
