Locate 'The Golden Nug' in Whistler Bike Park's Contest for a Chance to Win a Season's Pass

Lap after lap, riders get to know the Bike Park like the back of their hand. But, we’d like to find out who knows it best. Put your trail recall to the test and locate The Golden Nug. It’s simple – drop a pin onto a map of the Bike Park in the exact trail location the Golden Nug was taken.

This is a race of the internet’s finest, as the first person to correctly locate The Golden Nug will win a 2019 Whistler Mountain Bike Park Unlimited Pass, not to mention a lifetime supply of bragging rights.

Now, this isn’t horseshoes; close does not count. You need to select your location with surgeon-like precision. After all, mountain biking is a precise endeavour. You only get one guess per day, so if at first you don’t succeed, come back in 24 hours and try again.

If no one is able to successfully find the Nug by May 1 at 11:59 PST, we will bring out our measuring stick and find out who got the closest guess. If there is then a tie, the victory will go to who submitted their guess first. For the full rules, visit the contest website.

 @whistlermountainbikepark I really hope you're able to keep the agenda of Vail resorts out of the bike park program because I would never ride Whistler again in the winter. $200 a day to ride is nuts. If a bike park day pass ever exceeds $80 - I will forever hike and just poach sections till I get bored and decide that I'm officially over Whistler and will hop on the #BAILONVAIL train. Hope things stay reasonable, $$$ wise for the bike park.....

 Not sure about day passes as I don't usually pay attention to them, but the season price passes at least the last 4 seasons has not fluctuated much. Maybe $30-ish USD

 @krashDH85: for bike park, but in recent years the winter passes have gone up to painfully rediculous heights
We all just want to go play in the dirt but if Vail decides it can mountainbikers for money too, then we'll have to join skiers and boarders in looking for somewhere new to ride

 @Lookinforit: I've ridden plenty of bike parks. Complaining about lift ticket prices is probably the lamest thing you can do as a MTBer. Too expensive? Pedal your lazy ass up a hill and enjoy equally as good trails for free.

 @scott-townes: I've never found a trail like Dirt Merchant outside of bikeparks.
Sure there are jumps that big but do you know they're safe? Do you know the speed is right? The advantages of bikeparks don't end at the lift...

 @scott-townes: I'm with you bud, these comments are ridiculous. Safe? Right speed? It's like these guys have never Guinea pigged anything before. Better cover them up in bubble wrap before they go down the MTN. Too much money? Wow! A day pass to whis is cheap for the bike park. Where else can you ride from 10 am till 8 pm on a chairlift? On over 80 kms of trails???

 @nevertoofast So you're gonna drive all the way from Ontario to hike up the service roads, ignore the bike patrol that would tell you not to, and poach the bike park trails? Good luck with that dumb ass plan, and the fact that yours is top comment only tells me that the typical pinkbike reader is also a dumb ass.

 @fries: I'm not going to guinea pig something that big, especially not something I just find in the woods. A bikepark allows me to ride much larger features than I would on my own, because I know the trail builders were sane, other people ride it all the time, and there's a patrol car waiting to give me an easy ride down the mountain if I break myself. On my own I'm still pushing myself but I prefer not having to get off my bike and look at every single feature.
Also do you WANT to pay more to ride?

 @Lookinforit: something you find in the woods? If you haven't been invited, then you shouldn't be there. And your other comment, you've never found anything like dirt merchant outside of the park, that's because you've probably never helped build anything and just expect it to come to you. You don't deserve to"find" anything like it. I've spent countless hours trail building, dirt jump building ect. You've probably ridden on something I've done, so show some respect. And when it comes to the price of the park, you don't like it, f* off. It expands every year, gets better every year, and you think it'll stay the same price? Some places hardly touch their trails and the price goes up. Maybe you should go somewhere else.

 @scott-townes: have you ridden whistler? You can't compare it to any trail ride. I have a specialized Enduro so I do my fair share of pedaling but I love the park more. You don't have to worry about dying on a sketchy ass blind feature. Everything at whistler is safe as long as it's within your skill level. I took a guy biking for his first time on some unsanctioned trails and he ended up in the hospital on an unexpected 10 ft drop.

 @ThunderChunk: Yes, been there multiple times, most recent last year. Regardless if its a trail on the resort or off, you shouldn't send ANY feature blind. It sounds like you're a horrendous guide if you allowed your friend to end up in the hospital because he went off a 10ft. drop he didn't know was there. Man, you people really do need to be covered in bubble wrap.

 @fries: no I didn't mean beginner, I meant first time outside the park. I should have clarified. he rides double blacks and pro lines.. I did warn him to scope the trail first lap and send on the second but he just went for it.

 @scott-townes: regardless of what the reasons are for riding park, what does it matter to you? If you wanna ride trails go for it. If someone wants to ride park they can too. If they feel it's safer than trail riding then that's up to them. They can complain about pricing as much as they want, who cares. Everyone has their own opinion and own reasons for choosing the discipline of biking they want to do.

So you're gonna fly to Whistler, stay in a very expensive hotel, pay for expensive food, and hike up the service roads you are not allowed to hike up to illegally poach the bike park trails. All because Whistler raised the ticket prices?

What's your response to the bike park patrol gonna be when they tell you not to hike the service roads because its dangerous?

 @Flowcheckers: You don't fly directly into Whistler... fly into Vancouver, take the bus up to Whistler, get dropped off at the main village and take a short trip down the road to Riverside where you'll stay in your reserved yurt for $910 CAD ($680 USD) a week. If its just you and one other person, that's under $60 USD a night (assuming a week is 7 days, 6 nights). The food is only expensive if you eat out.

 So.... You already ride all the trails in whistler, and know them intimately enough to spot a 2x2ft trail section and know where it is on which trail, so you need to win a season pass??.....
Who comes up with these ideas? Facepalm

 Well, it looks to be the bottom of a rock roll, so I'd say just go on trailforks, look which trails have rock rolls, watch some videos and determine which it most likely is (must be near deciduous trees for those leaves), and then vote for those.
I, personally, don't have the time, energy, or patience for that, but I'm just suggesting an alternative

 I only get to ride whistler 3-4 days a year... But in my eye, the Nug looks a lot like the landing of the last photo! I've thought about it for a long time, but I can't remember this roll... I think that last photo is the Nug.
