Giant and Liv's New eMTBs Have An 850 W, 120 Nm Torque Motor
While it's not the focus of the article, I'm curious about the components rolled into this:
- Giant's in-house suspension, "CREST", will be interesting to see.
- The electronic TRP derailleur. Although I prefer mechanical, it's neat to see more companies carving slices of the pie.
- The integrated bar/stem combo. I strongly dislike it and genuinely don't see the benefits, but hey it's a new take! I like new

funnily enough he's on record saying that his bars are raised exactly as high as the manufacturers will raise them before they want to put a crossbar on them.
He said something about not wanting to hit the chin bar on the cross bar

Please Don't Dumb Down the Trails
So then why do we want better roll-over? Why did we go for bigger wheels and more suspension? Aren't those making the trails easier?
I fully agree that we should not be making trails easier, I just think that when the industry promotes things that make riding faster/easier then of course the attitude will be to want to make all riding easier. Why work my way up to that rooty, awkward trail when I can just buy bigger wheels that will smooth it out for me?
Maybe I don't get it but to me you can't have both hard trails AND "innovation" to make riding easier. More comfortable is ok (like appropriate reach, stand-over, and stack) but easier doesn't make sense.
And yes I have a fully-rigid 26-inch bike, why do you ask.

Semi-Hot Takes on This Year's MTB Tech Trends
I like bar-ends like the Loam Lab Counterpunch to protect my pinky fingers on most trail riding, "enduro" or otherwise. Maybe it's just my trails though, which further reinforces how specific set-up can be to your environment.
I don't envy the jobs of reviewers or designers, trying to prescribe something for everyone...

@Glory831Guy: but jumps uphill and having the motor do so much work is exactly what so many people on here are pissy about. They start to see it as an alternative sport to the one they fell in love with, but struggle when they are lumped together since they are internally perceived so differently

@pedrujo: at least for myself, watching e-bike edits feels less exciting because even the best bike handlers of our generation will be able to do more on a bike that weighs 10-30lbs less.
It generally feels like wasted talent.
