@pedrujo: at least for myself, watching e-bike edits feels less exciting because even the best bike handlers of our generation will be able to do more on a bike that weighs 10-30lbs less.
It generally feels like wasted talent.

Gates Patent Application Shows a CVT Gearbox For Non-Electric Bikes
Sounds like the same concept as the Zerode G2 (?) which just had a geared hub placed above the bottom-bracket. Add an assist motor to bridge the gaps in the gears and you've got a convincing concept.
Except for people like me who don't want batteries on their bikes for some strange reason. Even my commuter lights aren't battery operated, instead dynamo powered...
