Review: The New Transition Spur is Lightly Revised and Still Just as Fun
I know this is their “xc” bike but I would love an aluminum spur

Ibis Announces New Ripmo AF & Ripley AF Complete Bikes
I demoed a spur with them in early 2024 and they were the worst brakes I’ve ever used. Got a stumpy late last year specced with them and planned to swap them immediately, but they are working great for a trail bike. Wonder if SRAM updated something on them, or if there is that big of a difference between the R and RS

Jan 5, 2025Ripmo AF XL - Red Savina
$1250 USDRipmo AF 2022 - XL in Red Savina. This is a very capable, 147/160 travel bike that can handle most anything. I am not dumping this bike as an "as-is" condition sale, it is fully tuned and ready to ride without needing anything. Selling because I got a new bike.
Custom durable build off a frame from Fanatik, the bike has a few scratches but is in great shape. Just got a More Better tune from Fanatik and some new parts:
HAVEN'T RIDDEN SINCE:
Blake breed with new pads
Full disassembly and clean
Wheels trued
Drivetrain service with new GX cassette and chain
Freehub and headset service
New bottom bracket
LIGHTLY RIDDEN:
Tires (front is like new, back has a lot of miles left on it)
Chainring
Seatpost and fork service
PNW Range handlebars
Brake rotors
This bike is a bit heavy but climbs well, and is built to be low-maintenance and durable, but with performance in mind. Marzocchi Bomber CR and Bomber Z1 coil suspension, SLX/XT brakes, GX drivetrain with brand new cassette and chain, and completely broken down, cleaned, and tuned.
I've had a ton of fun on this bike and had no problems tackling difficult trails all over Washington and BC. The frame has a chip on the top tube, a chip on the downtube, and some scratches below the bottom bracket from riding.

Dec 2, 2022Transition Scout Aluminum
$1000 USDTransition Scout, 2017, XL, red. I bought this thing new and have gotten some great riding out of it and taken care of it, with suspension tune every 18 months, new bearings in 2021. Brand new chain, brake pads, and pretty new chainring. It was just serviced at Fanatik with their More Better Tune so it is in excellent condition and ready to ride. Description of that service:
Full drivetrain clean and service
Full wheel truing
Full brake bleed
Headset, bottom bracket, and freehub service
Fanatik said it will probably need a new cassette and bottom bracket in a year or so.
Here's the original build listing from Evo: https://www.evo.com/outlet/mountain/transition-scout-gx-evo-complete-bike
I haven't made any parts upgrades on it outside of drivetrain, brakes, tires, etc. The only thing different from a stock 2017 Scout is that this has a 150mm fork on it, so it slacks it out a bit.

Falling Batteries & Risk of Fire Leads to Santa Cruz Recall of 2022 Heckler eMTBs
@WestwardHo: That's fucked up, I'm up in Whatcom - any articles or resources on what's going down in Snohomish? Because up here, it's the opposite with more trails being opened up and constructed.

Friday Fails #128
I saw a kid on my street eat shit super bad on a wooden jump yesterday in his driveway, and one of my first thoughts was "that would have been great for Friday Fails!" I am an asshole apparently.

Pinkbike Poll: Where Do You Shop for Bike Parts?
Agreed, this is something I'm trying to learn myself - there's nothing more satisfying than successfully doing a certain repair or replacement for the first time.
That being said, I have kids and don't always have the time to troubleshoot and do it myself. If I have free time, I want to spend it riding or doing house projects that are more expensive than bike work. I have more money than time so sometimes I'd rather just pay someone to do it right and not have to worry about it for a year.

You have identified branding, and are correct that it is stupid. But it works.
