i have lived in many countries and have always ridden my bikes down the biggest steepest hill i can find since i was 6 years old.bikes today are sooo much better than what was available 40 years ago.my priorities have always been mountain biking and smoking weed.

Pinkbike Poll: Do You Ride Illegal Trails?
here in israel we dont have illegal trails, you can ride where you want but its best to not jump any fences because you may find yourself in a minefield or a military firing range.

Affordable Shredders From Mongoose: Teocali AM/Trailbike and All-New Boot’r Downhill Racer
if a used xtr derailleur has developed some play or has been hit with a rock and then straightened back out then a new deore would probably work better - a new budget chain will work better than a stretched hollowpin chain - a new kenda will grip better than a bald schalbe - also when buying used you may have to change the fork oil and bushings or bake pads and cables ect. adding to the cost of your used high end bike sure there are good deals to be found buying used but when you get a new bike you know that you wont have to spend anything extra and that everything works the way its supposed to

Pinkbike Poll: Would You Rather Pedal or Shuttle?
where i ride i have no choice but to pedal to the top so on a 2 hour ride i will pedal for 1 hour 45 min for 15 min. of downhill and i really like ripping it on the way down much more than i like climbing
i usually ride alone so shuttling is not an option
i prefer to park at the bottom and then climb until im out of energy then rest a bit before turning around and letting it rip on the way back down and the by the time i get down im all pumped and want to ride some more downhill
i have thought of electric bikes but they are still too heavy i live on the 3rd floor and have to carry my bike up and down the stairs every day to get to work and back and then hang the bike on the back of my truck (a semi with a bike rack on the back of the cab)
once they start to make good quality electrics under 30 lbs i will probably get one but for now i pedal to the top of every trail i want to go down

Pinkbike Poll
most shocks are easy to work on once you know whats inside.the trouble is finding accurate manuals and technical info.
two things that are very important is to keep everything super clean and always use fresh oil,and know you are dealing with parts that have very tight tolerances so if you are using replacement or modified parts make sure everything fits nice and tight and without forcing anything in place.also make sure that the parts you use dont have any scratches, burs or tool marks
