The UCI Responds to Questions Over Brook Macdonald Evacuation Delays
@jrouellet: in fact, AirMedic is a *TAXI* service, not an SAR service. They have deals with few airports across the province, which is fairly huge. They are not authorized to high-line or winch someone (only the coast guard & army can do that in Quebec). They do offer emergency transfer with medical staff, but they have limited ressources. That being said, 50min prep for 50flight time is ridiculous, but the blame cannot be put on them exclusively. Most likely, they were not aware there was an event that might require their services and were called at the last minute. The issue lies with the organisation lack of preparation to evacuate a serious injury. The services in winter are easier on snow, but the mountain itself is not really equiped to handle major evac with a quad. And specially where the accident happened. I would definitely NOT be immobilized and towed behind a quad on those access trails!

Local Flavours: Complete Guide to Riding in Québec City, Québec
Volunteer work is impressive in the area, but don't underestimate the work the trail contractors are putting in the sector too. Sentiers Boréals just spent 2 months in E47 to rebuild the Familiale, add 2 jump trails, extend the Huron and start a skills park. We build a lot in Bras du Nord. We built the initial SuperG in SDM but also 7 other trails over there. Yet no one talks about it. ;)

We built the Legend, Boréale and few other signature trails in Bras du Nord. The Neilson East was designed to be shuttle-serviced and the plan will soon be unveiled for that area. Neilson East + South is a pretty good descent ;)

Video: Singletrack Shredding in Quebec
@DanTae: the main track is a single diamond, with some double-black options, most of which are featured in this video. In many other places, it would be classifed as blue/dark blue, but in Bras du Nord, that is family oriented, the rating is scaled down a bit. The trail is actually very fun and accessible to a lot of rider with some minimal skills.

Actually, we avoid that by using rough-cut plank instead. Wire mesh have the bad tendancy to break apart over time, leaving a bunch of spikes in the air. It's also a very, very effective cheese grate if you slide on it. If we really need to add grip, we tend to use roofing singles.

@IllestT: 35Mbps gives you 3.5Mb/sec, which is the strict minimum to stream 1080. In fact, Netflix recommend 25Mbps but that will create buffering issues all the times. If you stream 720, it takes a little bit less but I have 100Mpbs at home and with the kids, we often use +80% of the bandwith available. Other thing to consider is lag. Have you done a Speedtest.net?

@Franzzz: fumé au tremble? Nop.

Actually, VeloSolution Canada is mostly Trep and some guys from Gestev and works there a few weeks per year. They are not anywhere close to be the only builders that worked in MSA. Mathieu Roy, now designer/operator for Sentiers Boréals, spent 9 years as lead builder for MSA and is responsible for many volunteer-built trails in the Land. Countless other also contributed, including Pat Dorion.
