Video: XC Sucks with Lief Rodgers
Most of the riding most people do across the world is XC. Whether they're fast at it or not is another question.
I love MTB. I love XC. It's all super fun. There's also this whole vibe on pinkbike that it's not cool to ride your bike if you're not doing it purely for "fun". But there's tons of us who like to ride because we also like to suffer and push ourselves, physically and technically. And some of us think all that suffering is fun too. Most people doing XC are having fun, believe it or not.

Burning Question: Why Are So Many Bike Manufacturers Putting Cables Through the Headset?
Jesus. Just say no.
I just checked and I bled my brake for the first time after over 7,000 miles because it needed it. Having to do that just because you need to do something with your headset?! No.

60 grams (0.13 lbs for those of us in the US) can also be lost by taking a pee. Insane.

Leave it to Lea - Kate Courtney Reflects on Lea Davison’s Years-long Mentorship
@brianpark: would be cool to see some more training/bike fitness related content. Maybe thats not PB's thing but that's a huge part of my mountain biking. Id also love to read articles from pros or coaches on training. Skills articles too.

Leave it to Lea - Kate Courtney Reflects on Lea Davison’s Years-long Mentorship
@brianpark: glad to hear. I only really come to pb for xc related content or sort of... Normal trail content. Imo enduro and downhill only strongly applies to a small portion of folks who have those types of trails in their backyard which sadly is few of us.
I have been feeling lately like there are few articles of interest - so much red bull rampage, crankworx, etc... The article the other day suggesting everyone just ride more suspension to "simplify" things when most mountain bikers need less suspension to enjoy their local trails... Poor coverage of US xc championships.

@magnusc: regarding the size, perhaps just a US thing but races have to limit field size for permitting and logistics (lodging mostly). unbound does a lottery. It is massively popular although I hate the sentiment that it is the standard by which others should be judged since it is very much a Midwest course and drastically different from courses elsewhere in the country - low elevation gain for the distance and tons of drafting tactics at play. Easy climbs.
