I would say yes, Kaikoura/Clarence are pretty cool areas to check out on the way too. There are only a few trails at the moment but it will grow pretty fast. Cool thing too is you can share uplift passes so if you get a group together you'd be looking at $10 an uplift, $9 if you got the 20-run pass.
