The ST4 is a design made to continue our own inimitable niche: bikes for mountain biking, pure and unabridged. Like the original, the new frame is a responsive low-slung trail missile, efficient on the pedals, but with downhill poise that belies its travel. It's not about fashion; it's about the ride.

Built for all-day missions, the ST4 uses a low leverage ratio to produce 110mm of buttery smooth travel. Rather than use a shorter 165 mm shock the ST4 takes a lesson from the Blood, running a 190mm custom tuned Fox RP23 for perfect progression. The geometry that made the original a classic, but updated to markedly stiffen the chassis laterally and incorporate linkage development from the Strange department.

If you want to redefine the rules of XC, the ST4 starts afresh. It might not fit the existing industry tags, but it's built for the way most of us ride. Up, down and along, the ST4 is the remedy to your bike pondering woes. Just get on and ride, the ST4 does the rest.

Looking for something that little bit more exclusive? The ST4 Blackout follows the popularity of the special edition Five Pro Blackout, with only 10 disco blackout masterpieces available.

The Blackout model features exclusive Hope Tech X2 Special Edition brakes, with black floating rotors, black mounts, and titanium bolts throughout. A Hope headset, rear QR skewer and seat-clamp continue the British theme.

Pushing the ST4 Blackout as even more of a trail warrior, this build is up-specced from the Five Pro version with the travel adjustable Fox 32 TALAS FIT RLC. Flicking between 110 and 140mm of travel, optimized spring curves keep forks working perfectly in climbing or descending positions, with the lockout and force adjuster dial making the return home that little bit easier. This fork spec is exclusive to the Blackout model and not available on any other ST4. Is this the ultimate all-rounder? We think so.

Colour matched links and caps finish off the Blackout package: looking fancy...

The ST4 Pro Blackout retails at £3100 including the Hope upgrades. All the options are still available on the model page.

To be honest this bike look cheap. Besides the fork and brakes nothing appeals to me. The frame looks like a 500USD bike. I'm not commenting on ride and overall performance, but compared to all the other Orange bikes ... boring.

the frame design isnt that bad. the best thing they can do w. an all mtn bike is to give it a high enough bb to pedal through muddy/rocky sections. also its important to have a full lengthed seat tube. all mtn asks for such a variety of conditions that the bike must be really versitile. for me, it sucks to have a bike that you cant drop the seatpost on jumps/steeps. it means i have to carry another one if i plan to make my do everything bike, do everything.

look at any other bike offerings no matter if its the nomad, enduro, ibis hd or pretty much any reputable AM bike and you will find something that can not only pedal through mud an be capable everywhere else but will also look cool while doing it Orange is a compilation of designs from 1997

Looks interesting, such low leverage, and high volume air shock on so little travel. I like the make it simple concept, a perfect afterwork bike if you live in a hilly area, far from proper mountains. The only thing bothering me is the swingarm which seems flexy, but well not everyone must be shredding the GnaRRRgh. Thumbs up!

Doesn't really lift MY luggage but I do like the suspension and brake spec. It'd appear to be something from this decade if they went 2x10 on it. Otherwise, this looks like any ol' faux bar whip to me.

I've never loved orange bikes, but I would ride the titties off that bike. Strong work ladies and gentlemen of orange bIkes.

Love it! Im glad they have gone for something different, even though the single-pivot works beautifully well! Good job Orange, im sure we will all be seeing a lot of the on the trails soon!

Don't get me wrong, I ride an Orange bike and it rocks, but the methods to gain extra money that they use is just lame. They don't even provide any new color for the frame, only brakes. C'mon, Orange, I can build all-black bike by myself! Why so lasy? Just make matt black decals on gloss black frame and fork, it's so easy, but made a huge difference in customer's minds!

Liking the green detailing......(linkage and grips) although it coulda used more...black and green always cool...such a simple Idea but why have Fox never offered us different coloured caps on the forks?....hate the white stripes....too much of an addidas look about them..not sure about the welding at the top tube but it looks a bit cowboy ha....smooth lines then a big boxy bit that looks overdone......thats all my thoughts on how it looks.....as for perfomance I have no doubt it will be an excellent all-rounder type bike and would say that if I had the money I would definately consider purchasing this bike

Hmmmm.... Sure it rides great but doesn't look anything special to me.
  • 4 2
So you buy your bikes based on looks? Facepalm
  • 2 1
I mean it doesn't look anything special as in the frame design and linkage.
