I know a number of people who uprooted their lives to move out there. Bummed for them. Another awful move from Specialized towards their employees, but who is surprised? This is the same company that announced buying a massive Boulder office that they dumped a few years later on the same day they laid a bunch of people off.

@ninjatarian: there weren't any 1UPs at Sea Otter because by the time Pinkbike got there, they were already all stolen and listed on FB marketplace in the east bay.

I've got an Epic 8 and it's the best bike I've ever ridden. I had an Epic Evo 7 years ago, although I can't really speak to how good it was as I'm 10x the rider now as I was then. Either way...I don't think there's any need to upgrade whatsoever. Epic Evo 7 is still a beast of a bike and is even lighter than the current Epic.

"Or did they simply ignored it for the short term gains?" I worked at one of these companies during the peak of the pandemic. Everyone knew it wouldn't last, but the goal wasn't exactly short term gains, but long term gains at competitor's expense. Foolish thinking but the execs fully bought into the idea that going bigger and getting inventory earlier meant that we would just absorb business from all of the competition. Overall demand for bikes would drop, but it would be made up for by having more floor space. In reality, everyone got too much inventory and everyone got it at the same time. That's the reason that all these companies are in the same situation. Those execs made a lot of money during that time period though and aren't the ones being laid off, so it worked out for some people...

Chris and Eric are both great guys that I loved having the pleasure of working with in the past. Excited to see what they can do here!

@JudyYellow: yeah, their bikes are freakin huge. You only have to sell a few bikes that giant in order to make $20b.

@bicyclelifestyle: I don't think it is Fox as much as it is Vista. Vista is essentially your standard PE company that happens to be public instead of private. They're trying to spin the company into two to create """"shareholder value"""" aka increase the stock price so that the massive amounts of shares that Vista leadership own make them even wealthier. It appears to me based on the lack of plan that Fox leadership has that the directive to absorb Bell/Giro/Blackburn was thrust upon them relatively unexpectedly.
