Round 8 - Sun Peaks, BC

September 21st - 24th

A new trail built just for the race, a weekend full of fun games and racing, concerts and the best bike park in B.C., how good!? Round 8 of the 2023 We Are One Canadian Enduro League Presented By Leatt is on. Where the summer has gone, we have absolutely no idea, but here we are at one of our favorite bike parks, Sun Peaks Resort, for the penultimate round of this year's racing and the brand new Three Peaks Classic Festival featuring Slalom, Hill Climb, and an Air DH race. Let's get it!

P.S - we're giving away a brand new We Are One Composites 152 Arrival this weekend! Don't miss out on your chance to take a fresh rig home with you!

Race Preview

Sun Peaks could quite possibly be one of our favorite bike parks! Located just 45 minutes from Kamloops, the park boasts over 3,500 feet of lift accessed vertical across two mountains, with an extra 500 feet ready to go for those who like to pedal. The raw, natural trails are truly world-class. When planning this year's schedule, Sun Peaks was an absolute must for all of us here at the Canadian Enduro League. This weekend, riders will tackle a double black diamond course that covers over 45km in length, with 3000m in climbing. Don't stress though! Three of the weekend's stages will be accessed via chairlift. The course brings together all of the classic bike park trails as we weave across all three mountains for the very first time. And yes, we're racing the classics like Mach, Spicy Taco, Canada Line, Insanity One, Honey Drop, and the Canada Cup DH Course! This will be a guaranteed good weekend!

We also have a little something extra for this weekend. We may be a little biased, but Stage 4 could be the very best stage of the year! This year, Ted and Jacob teamed up with Sun Peaks Recreational Trails Association, and McElhanney Ltd. to lead a new trail project on Mount Morrisey to help leave a lasting legacy for all riders to enjoy. A massive thank you to the main two builders, Jordan Proctor and Dylan Sheffer, who spent their summer battling stumps, wheeds, and buck brush! We'd also like to thank Alex Silverthorne for his dedication to the brush saw and we're also sending love to the team at We Are One for their support in organizing trail days. We also owe a shoutout to the team at Tourism Sun Peaks and of course the Sun Peaks Resort crew for their support, thanks for believing in us! Lastly, to each of the SPRTA volunteers who came out on the trail days, THANK YOU, you're the back bone of this community and we can't thank you enough! It's long, it's loamy, and it will be one hell of a race track! Keep an eye on our social media for a course preview later in the week.

This season's swag table has been unreal to say the least!

Red Bull Downtime Stage

This season we are stoked to introduce the Red Bull Downtime Stage at select events. The Red Bull Downtime Stage is an integrated special stage within the event, giving riders an extra chance to win some epic prizes! To compete in the Red Bull Downtime Stage, you must be an amateur competitor and fully complete the given race. To be considered eligible for winning the prize, you must also be 18 years or older. The fastest amateur Male and Female rider of the Red Bull Downtime Stage will win one (1) FORB/VIP ticket for Red Bull Joyride 2024, and a unique Red Bull Downtime Stage medal!

For RD #8, the nearly 4km long Stage 6 will host the penultimate Red Bull Downtime Stage for 2023.

Red Bull Downtime Stage Rules:
• You must register and complete the entire CEL event.
• Racers are only eligible to win the prize once. If a racer who has previously won holds the fastest time at a second event, they will forfeit the prize and the next fastest person will be awarded.
• Racers must be 18 years of age or older at the time of competition.
• This prize has no cash value.
• This prize only includes one (1) FORB/VIP ticket to Red Bull Joyride 2023/2024 in Whistler, BC. No travel, accommodation or other expenses are covered.
• Racers in the pro categories are excluded from this prize.

Keep an eye on our social media for a stage preview later this week!

McElhanney Stage

We are proud to have McElhanney Ltd. as the official Outdoor Recreation Consultant of the Canadian Enduro League. They offer many trail-related services from trail planning, design, and construction administration, to Section 57 applications. With an even broader list of services such as engineering, geomatics, planning and more. The McElhanney Stage of each race is chosen to highlight a unique experience for riders and often includes unique trail features. This stage will feature more opportunities for racers to get photographed by our media team, so make sure you’re smiling!

For RD #8, the McElhanney Stage will be the brand-new Stage 4. Ted used his time at McElhanney to design this trail, and this ain't your average flow trail! While at McElhanney Ted also worked on designing the climb trail 'Cedar Twist', the blue flow descent 'Calypso Groove' and the out and back 'Sticky Fingers'. This trail has been purposely built for the event, and we're excited to open it to the public and get tires to dirt. This one will be memorable.

Keep an eye on our social media for a stage preview later this week!
