Nylon is a polyamide, berd spokes are made from dyneema, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, which is much stronger.

Capitalism is the only reason mountain biking exists. In Soviet Union there only 2 adult bicycle types available for regular people: folder with 20" wheels and city bike with 28" wheels, both with coaster brakes. You wanted different bike to ride on trails in the forest? Sorry, state committee decided to not allocate any resources to develop a new bicycle type in the current 5-year plan.

New derailleur, hanger and a wheel, but not a new frame. So in all those cases hanger worked as intended and saved bike frame.

@konakurt: screws will dull after just one ride. It's just relatively soft stainless steel. Studs in spiked tires have carbide tips which will provide ice traction much longer.
