Commencal Meta 4X - Gee Atherton

$750 GBP
Up for sale is my Commencal Meta 4X Gee Atherton Edition - a brilliant all round mtb, despite being named as a 4X rig, it's ideal for Downhill, trials, all mountain, long rides and even the dreaded 'Enduro' word. Size Large (but is more of an in between medium-large as 4x frames are slightly smaller). Dirt Mag and MBUK both rated in there top 10 product lists, with it being one of the best 'all mountain' bikes for all uses. I've used it for long trial rides and DH and is superb for both, with super solid Maxle front and rear axles, and Pro Pedal on the rear shock for climbs, genuinely is a superb bike for all types of riding. Just had a full service, brand new bottom bracket, brakes bled, and greased and tightened all bearings. New parts in the last year: • 9 speed SRAM cassette, shifter & chain • E-13 chain device • WTB Volt Seat • New bottom bracket fitted 15/12 • NC-17 seat post • New brake discs with titanium rotor bolts in the rear • Shimano Deor Front hydraulic brake • Shimano XT hydraulic rear break with air fins for extra cooling • Schwalbe Nobby Nics (used for about 3 rides, so pretty much new!) Other parts include: • Fox Float R rear shock with Pro Pedal (Tuned by TF Tune) • Fox Van R front shocks with Maxle (considerably more solid than QR!) • Gusset DH pedals • Shimano Saint cranks • Gusset DH wide bars (currently very wide so can be easily cut down if needed) • Ragley lock on grips • FSA headset • Thomson Elite X4 stem • Rims - not sure what these are as they were on the bike when I got it, but are rock solid, straight and well spoked. Visually it has a few paint scuffs and scuffed stickers on the frame, but I've upgraded nearly every part on the bike since having it with new gear, so in terms of functionality condition is perfect. Just been serviced and ready to shred! BACKSTORY: This one comes with a bit of a backstory. When I bought this I was told it was the personal training bike of Gee Atherton (who used to race with the Commencal 4X). It has his named race stickers on the rear, as well as Atherton engraved on the top of the rear shock which has also been tuned by TF Tuning. Please note that I can't confirm if this is true or not, if it is, then it's a great little bit of UK race history. HOWEVER I bought the bike as it's an amazing do it all MTB, not for the backstory. So take this story as you want, and I don't suggest buying the bike based on this story alone as like I say I can't confirm what I was told is true. Either way it's an amazing bike, that sadly I have to sell as I rarely use it now and have just moved house and have no room to store it. Feel free to ask any questions, for collection only from Birmingham UK Looking for £750 or nearest offer (MAY consider part ex for a jump/4x bike)

Transition Bottlerocket with over £500 of new saint, hope an

$1700 GBP
Up for sale is my Transition Bottle rocket Size Medium. This has had no expense spared, and spent over £500 on new saint, hope and straitline bits on it in the last few months. It's an amazing bike and can ride everything from dh, freeride and even long epics with uphills, it's a genuin do it all bike. However I've just not been using it as much as I was planning too, and can't really justify keeping it at the moment when I could do with the money, plus I've been using the roady a lot more so I've decided to put it up for sale (probably the worst site in the world to mention road bikes but hey!). I'll upload some new pics once it's had a proper clean and polish, as it's pretty filthy at the moment, but it's a rare sunny day today so wanted to make the most of it for pics before it pisses it down again! Please note: I'm NOT interested in trades/swaps as I could do with the money, however I may be open to part exchanges for another full susser and cash. The bike is very good condition, with a bit of cable rub, and the odd little paint chip here and there (see photos for close ups), but otherwsie in really good condition. Local pickup, or I may deliver myself depending on the price and where abouts you are in the country (I'm in Birmingham), but I will ONLY consider delivery if a deposit is left up front for security reasons (a quid by PayPal would be fine so I have name and address). Full parts list: Fox dhx air 5.0 shock Rockshox lyric 2 step air forks, with mission control and travel adjust 'TFTuned' tuned by TFtunedshox Avid code hydraulic brakes Spank tweet tweet rims in blue (just to note there are a few scratches on these, but nothing major - you can see this in the pics) Brand new super sticky maxxis minion dh tyres 26x 2.35 riden once with loads of clearance for fatter tyres. Hubs - Blue Hope hubs front and back NEW 9 speed cassette - riden once NEW Shimano saint short cage mech - only been ridden a couple of times NEW SRAM power link chain - again only ridden a couple of times Saint cranks New bb NEW Hope integrated bash guard cog with top mount chain device - ridden twice. This thing is wicked though, one piece cnc'd cog and bashguard, with upper chan device - none of the noise and power suck of a standard top mount and roller chain device. NEW Straightline Defacto pedals blue - Only ridden once - these also come with loads of spare pins, and pin spanner. These are insanely grippy pedals with custom pin profiles. NEW Sunline v1 short stem (with matching gunmetal grey of grip ends) NEW wide funn fantboy dh bars blue NEW Tapered Hope headset. Sunline grips with matching grey end caps for the stem, these are the thicker profile that they don;t sell anymore, but one of the comfiest grips I've ever used. Sdg bell air I beam saddle. If you have any questions drop me a message on here or text me, The price is pretty firm, but I'm open to REASONABLE offers.

Pinkbike Poll: Is The Gearbox Fantasy Dead?
What no one seems to be mentioning here is instant shifting that you get on a gearbox which you don't on a mech. I've got an alfine on my roady, and being able to drop three gears on a corner when you're coasting and have it instantly in gear as soon as you start pedalling is a HUGE difference. Do the same thing on a standard mech and it'll clunk all per the place till it gets in gear. This alone could easily save seconds in a race. I've got a short cage saint on my transition and it does work pretty much flawlessly most of the time, but you really need to use a hub system just to be able to appreciate the difference, and how much better this would be for off road use. I'd love to look into getting one hooked up on my transition IF I ever have the money, but not sure how that would work with the bb as on my roadie it's an oval jobby.

Pinkbike Poll: Electronic Components
I don't really see the point. Electronic shocks seem pointless, yeah they can automatically adjust to the terrain, but that most likely wont be the right setup for everyone, as everyone has there own preference for rebound, plushness etc etc. Having another 5 cables coming off the front end, and yet more shit you probably can't tweak and setup yourself and costs a fortune to fix is not something I'd be interested in. Give me electronic uphill power and an electronic boost feature to fire all your shocks and launch you over logs and I just might consider it... Or the Audi e bike as that's sick. For me the whole point of biking is its simple to keep running and doesn't need anything to power it. I'd much rather see these companies putting the time and money into developing better hub gears like a proper alfine system that is long lasting, belt driven, lighter and affordable. As that's pretty much the last thing on bikes that's crappy old tech in need of modernisation. I used my alfine roady offload a few times and to be able to drop 3 gears when coasting on a corner then cranking up hill with no delay for shifting is bliss, we NEED that on MTBS way more than we need electronic shifters for deraileurs.

First Look: Troy Lee Designs A1 Helmet
Was eagerly waiting to see what they brought out as I love my d2 and TLD normally make some really cool stuff... but this? Looks like pretty much every other helmet out there, only even more bulbous and mushroom looking than most helmets... and with really gash graphics!! Only appealing thing to me is the liner looks really comfy, and I like the back lip detailing. But otherwise really dull helmet, maybe some decent colourways/graphics will come out next year for you it, but will stick to my d2 and urge for now. Shame, I had proper high expectations for this.

Lance Armstrong Interview Part 2
Well this 'process' as he keeps putting it is about to get a whole lot worse. There will be many lawsuits against him now for libel, loss of earnings, to reclaim the costs of lawsuits that were won when he sued people, not to mention potential federal charges from the US Postal team as well is possible jail time for several counts of purjery... This is going to get very messy, very quickly!

Bike Thief Gets Owned
I wouldn't even bother calling, my mate got his motorbike nicked from the garage at his house and called the police, took them 2 MONTHS for them to show up at the house because they were so 'busy'. I really wish I was kidding but I sh*t you not! Yet last week of every month you get a bout 10 of them sitting on the side roads to the main high streets all day waiting for someone to speed so they can rack up their figures for the end of the month. Piss take.
