First Look: Santa Cruz's First eMTB, the 2020 Heckler
Been riding Levo Comp Carbon since last summer. Been MTB for 30+ years. Initial bought the Levo for Tahoe as I have a mild lung condition that affects me at Altitude and limits my cardio. It's been a blast to ride comfortably the same trails I have for many years. Locally, I dial down the assist to 5-10% to just allow me to ride with my 40 something buddies without blowing their doors off. Yesterday I rode a trail that I could ride in my 40's but its too loose and steep for my 60's. I did an hour and 40 min loop, used only 22% of my 504 wH battery and had a blast! The direction Specialized is going with the SL is what I am doing! I just need that 10% assist to do all the things I could do 20 years ago.... with the occasional "Presidential" boost.... Abusive Use of Power... to get through something nasty (rock gardens, ugh). Likely will buy a 2nd gen Levo SL after they and I are sure they got it right. I want an e-trail bike, not a downhill missile. That said, the planted, controlled descents of the Levo are great! Hate if you want, but for my category (aging enthusiast) I getting to keep doing what I love... riding the terrain that I love. And still getting a workout!!! Some of us will just have to agree to disagree...

First Look: Shimano's New XTR is More Than Just 12-Speed
I've been a sram guy for a long, long time. Eagle GX price point for a non-racer dude is hard to beet. Still, like to see competition from companies driving R&D... We all win! Especially when the racing tech trickles down to the more practical mid range that most of us ride. On my second bike with GX Eagle and no complaints! And for me and our terrain, I'm happy to have that 50t hanging out for some steep climb outs near the end of my ride on tiring days. Just an average human body here that likes to ride and wave as the big boys go by! No ego here!
