Video: Loam Patrol
...wow, even the same colour spec as the new DB's. To those that haven't figured it out yet, these are the same faux four bar suspension designs that Kona and a few others have been using for ages with minor geometry changes... Aka. Crap. At least norco finally gave in and went with a true Horst link. The DB Mission was the only faux that actually was a good value with their spec, these, ugh...

Flat Pedal Foot Placement For Best Results
..easily the most long winded explanation towards the benefits of correct foot placement I have ever heard. Its bad enough working with engineers all day, watching them give over complicated assessments of simple principles to the less educated, but come on, really was all that necessary?? Ball of foot slightly in front of axle center line- is better than behind, would have sufficed.

Specialized Demo 8

$1250 CAD
2006 Specialized Demo 8 (medium) with Rockshox Boxxer World Cup with integrated stem. I bought this bike new from the specialized rep in 2007.(only owner) The fork was converted to a WC from the Team model new, and therefore comes with the Team parts as well. The wheels are Specialized Stout hubs with Mavic 721 rear rim, WTB dual duty on the front, hand built with DT Alpina spokes. (Triple butt) Pedals/seat are Specialized as well. Brakes are Avid Juicy 7's, cranks are Raceface Atlas 170, Atlas bars, Deus post, Thermo SP headset, chainguide. ODI Rogue grips, Intense 2.5 tires.Sram x9 rear derailleur/ shifter/ cog set(11-32t) Waaaay too many custom parts to list. New This Year: Fox rc2 rear shock with manitou ti spring. (new owner has option to swap to a Fox dhx 5.0Air if preferred) New main pivot bearings New hub bearings(all) New brake pads fr/rr **This bike was mechanic owned, and has been meticulously maintained. I have hardly used this bike in the last 5 years, and therefore operates as smooth as day 1. Very smooth plush suspension. No creaks /groans/ or weird noises. I have replaced all major wear items for the new owner as listed. Other than some surface scratches, its functionally new.(or better..) it would be considered a "light weight" build for a Demo by any standard. *** Sorry, no lowball offers will be replied to. I'll keep it before I'd give it away. I will remove the ad when its sold. No Paypal, cash upon pickup only.

Pinkbike Poll: The Local Bike Shop
After 25 years in the bike industry, working for both Raceface and Rocky Mountain, and several bike shops here in the lower mainland, the problem is clear, people do not see a value in what a bike shop has to offer...namely the service. This day and age, one can order a product and have it arrive within a few days to their door, no hassle, no snooty young-could-have-been-someone-big-if only..type pushing them their product or image.(just an example) Product selection, and availability are far greater to a civilian than to an average size bike shop. They simply cannot order the quantities necessary to get the discounts to compete with large wholesalers. Period. Most avid riders are a particular breed (to say the least) and frugal to boot. The small boutique model simply does not work anymore. Its too bad, as I wanted to start my own shop, but with the current trends, it was an obvious wash. I also had countless people come into the shop(s) to gain knowledge about a would be purchase, only to have them buy it on line, and come back the next month to have it serviced. It was not about my attitude or approach, simply the fact I could not get them a bike at a price they could through the internet. The service model works, but not a retail shop selling product.

Video: Lee Jackson - The Valley
THANK YOU!!!!!...Finally a video that didn't spoil the riding by over using slow-mo to showcase a bunch of lame kick-turns and side whips!!!!! If I see another retarded tire- scrub, washing all that freshly built berm dirt, I'm going to explode... Whoever started that trend, should have to own up to builders everywhere by getting tied to a tree and pelted with rocks:(
