@gaberoc: Actually, the chain stays are too short in all sizes. Cotic & Esker seem to understand than you need at least 435mm for steep technical climbing. Otherwise it's hard to keep your front end down.

@VtVolk: If you're talking about point breaks, sure. But if you live near a big, shifty beach break, there's more peaks the people out and the current and rips create a natural filter, depending on your fitness.

@Jtstar: Totally agree. If you've ridden everything around you, you're unlikely to be floored by your local MTB rides. Surfing is different. It might be crappy. It might be scary. Or it could also be dazzling. You might see pelicans, dolphins, or sharks. When Ocean Beach if firing and offshore (October-February), the stoke is so high I literally can't sleep after surfing.

@neatoneto: Not true, once the field becomes deep enough. Women's XC racers are way higher profile and generate more interest than all the random dudes you've never heard of in mens XC. Women's DH field lacks that depth, so it's a one-woman show and not that interesting right now. Men's DH is totally stacked and understandably more popular.
