Tech Week 2023: Clever Bike Stands, Trick CNC'd Components, & a Fancy Storage Container
@RonSauce: Agreed. Looks to me like WT is slotting into market segment to compete against Race Face's Atlas for those who want light, thin, aluminum pedals. Height at about 14mm/12mm, 385g weight for larger WT about the same as Race Face's similarly-sized platform (WT also adds a smaller size that is a little lighter), double concave, tapered, etc. Atlas run about $180. Like WT slotting their dropper in alongside Bike Yoke, they are dropping in at high end here.

NFT Trading Has Officially Infiltrated Cycling
This is a great article, both informative and cynical, a terrific combo. :) There is no question imo that the Outside+ corporate mothership is talking about NFTs and the metaverse, and will do something on both fronts sooner or later. NFTs/metaverse is, in a way, another iteration of putting content and online communities behind a paywall. Instead of buying a “membership,” you buy an nft. Instead of buying a “premium” membership, you buy a more “exclusive” (a/k/a a more expensive with more linked benefits) nft. And it’s not just online immersiveness. Imagine having a Pinkbike-sponsored party at the UCI downhill event in West Virginia, attended by Pinkbike personalities and prominent riders, that is only open to holders of a certain Pinkbike nft. Other nft communities have those sorts of real world meet-ups limited to the nft holders. When Outside jumps aboard, rereading this article will be even more enjoyable!

Video: Survival Of The Fastest - Pinkbike Academy Season 2 EP 4
Adding to the chorus, Cody absolutely should have been canned. On pure time, he wasn't that much more impressive in last relative to the guys than Alaina was relative to the girls. On every other measure -- including effort and competitiveness -- he was well behind her. Hanging back with Flo like it was some sort of strategy -- and not just an out-and-out quitters mentality as to the other men in the competition -- is absurd, and honestly I wish she had kicked his ass down the last stretch and finished ahead of him instead of him even getting the optics of beating her. Yeah, Alaina had the slowest time, but if that is the primary measure, then all the women, including Flo, are going to be picked off vs. the men one by one. Of anything else then raw placement was considered, Cody should have been eliminated. And why bother even asking the competitors their assessments right before cutting them if it is irrelevant? When Cody complained about his pillow, whatever decision they had made should have been reconsidered and he should have been given his walking papers. I guess we should all fluff a tiny pillow, rather than play a tiny violin, for Cody.

Why the requirement to subscribe to PB YouTube to watch it? Can we still watch it directly on website, and if not, why not? Will the episode be available for free after October 21, or does it go behind a paywall after the day of release? Same question for episodes after the first -- free on demand or only free the first day? Can it be watched for free on all our devices on the Outside app and Outside's website, or only if we are paid subscribers to Outside+ or Outside TV?

Beta Magazine Releases Inaugural Photo Annual
@whambat: That isn't consistent with Outside CEO guy's end goal with Beta, PB, and the other properties Outside owns. They want to be Amazon (beware the corporate speak for the effort to lock users down into their ecosystem): "Thurston’s vision is to build what he calls the Amazon Prime of the active lifestyle: a connected, holistic ecosystem of resources—including content, experiences, utilities, community, commerce, education, and services—that can be uniquely customized for each active lifestyle enthusiast."
