It's called greed. They get to keep more money in their pocket while not lowering prices so it's a win-win for them.
Although there is one exception to this and it's the Status frames. I called every Spez shop in town trying to order a 160 frame and they all said they're not allowed to and you have to go through Spez directly. Ended up finding a leftover 2021 here in PB from a shop but I will say that frame is a really good value for the price.
So I guess maybe the Status is an example of the value proposition Spez could be going full direct but that's pretty much never going to happen.

DVO Sapphire D1
$450 USDSelling a pretty pristine DVO Sapphire D1. It's set to 120mm but can adjusted easily with internal spacers. Used it on my xc bike for one race season and sold the frame so no longer have a use for it.
7.5 inches of steerer left and has a star nut installed

Kona Hei Hei CR/DL Large w/ DVO Sapphire D1 Fork
$1800 USDSelling a 2019 Kona Hei Hei CR/DL frameset with a DVO Sapphire D1 fork set to 120mm. Used this bike for racing XC in the summers but not doing that anymore. The frame has some paint chips on the chainstay yoke as pictured but other than that it is super clean. This is all you get:
Hei Hei CR/DL Frame size L w/ rockshox monarch RL shock
DVO Sapphire D1 fork 120mm (fork can be changed to longer travel by just removing internal spacers)
