@Shannyla: Maybe it's because European E-bikes or Pedelecs are speed limited to 25 KPH (15.5 MPH).
Here in the land of freedumb Class 1 E-bikes are limited to 32 KPH (20 MPH) and Class 3 are limited to 45 KPH (28MPH).
Some Offroad E-bikes, like Specialized, in the US allow users to switch between Class 1 and Class 3 on the fly.
If you have losers going 32 - 45 KPH on your trails and walking paths, you would probably be pissed too.

The first thing people did when they got modern safety bicycles is start putting engines on them. The bicycle and motorcycle branches have been diverging since then.
The unholy abominations that people like to call E-bikes are essentially just a modern take of the very first motorcycle.
Coincidentally, a 49cc scooter or moped as they were called when I was growing up has a similar power number to the Avinox, 2HP. E-bikes are mopeds that were lobbied into existence to eat up our multi-use paths and trails.
Much like cars took over roads that were originally designed for horses and bicycles, electric mopeds are taking over non-motorized trails and paths. So why is it the non-motorized crowd always has to share with the motors instead of them using existing infrastructure?

I never thought I said this but I think the hikers will save us. They far outnumber wheeled users.
Non-motorized users need to band together and banish these plastic mopeds to the moto trails where they belong.
That is already the USFS position.
