My crew has been doing a night ride weekly for the past 10 years. We ride in all weather in the PNW. 1-2hour ride depending on how crappy the weather is before changing and warming up with food and beverages. • Magicshine is awesome for the price. • I have some old light in motion (RIP) lights that are solid - good runtime on the large battery, not so much on the small. • Helmet mount I am running an ancient Shenkey amazon light that was $15 maybe 6+ years ago. It is underpowered, but you don't notice it on your head, battery life is great for a 2hr ride if you go low setting for climbs and high for downs. I just took a chance on a Suruid amazon light for sub $30 despite some questionable reviews. Only one ride in, results are mixed. It is bright, it is LIGHT weight, battery seems to last as advertised - so far, mounting is very basic - not elegant, but it works well, side button/battery indicator on side is not cool, and most important the jury is out on the beam pattern - I need a few more rides to know if I had it mounted too high/low or if I was just having an off night. I think it is too bright for my helmet light thus creating more shadows... I'm trying to say you don't need a $500 light set up to just try night riding, You can be sub $100 all in if you're just starting out. Buy some well reviewed inexpensive lights, if you fall in love you can upgrade later and have a back up set for a friend who wants to give it a try!

@cxfahrer2: I mean an ebike X brush cutter would be amazing and really practical.

Shigura for life. MT5 calipers, plus a buddies throw away XTR levers from a gazillion years ago.

@11six: We just implemented a Preschool for all program in our area. Free high quality preschool, got to bike my kid to preschool - they loved riding and making friends and all the social stuff that Preschool provides. I think the whole of the USA should provide free preschool for people that want/need it!!

Wait, $286, how much drop does it have? Pure snake oil.

@jonpendray: I'm halfway though a tub of some generic auto bearing grease that I bought when I was riding a GIANT Iguana full rigid. That tub of grease has moved many times.

Oakridge Oregon? What Oakridge trails are EMTB LEGAL?
