Burning Question: Is Super Boost 157 Spacing Going to Become the New Standard?
The rear spacing fashion show has led to a change in bike purchase strategy for me. Used to be the old adage was to buy the best frame possible and then upgrade components when possible. Now, my strategy is to look for the cheapest frame and get better components. Shimano's product cycle is about four years so it's a better bet that the components won't be obsolete sooner than the frame.

Trek Full Stache - First Ride
@Lookinforit: Hmmm. 427mm chain stay for the Trek and 430.5 mm for the Knolly Fugitive. Fugitive only supports up to 29x2.6" tire, however. It's all too much to ponder without more coffee...

Trek Full Stache - First Ride
I don't understand the continued need for the elevated chain stay for tire clearance. Didn't Knolly just move their entire lineup to 150/157 to allow for more plus bike tire clearance? Also, the comments about rear wheel flex lend support for the wider hub provided by 157 spacing.

Shimano AM7 Shoes - Review
Any half sizes? Tried whole sizes 45 and 46 in Shimano MTB shoes and lie squarely in between. I don't understand the lack of half sizing by Shimano.

IMBA Opposes Bill to Allow Mountain Bikes in Wilderness
I don't think readers of this forum get it. I've been riding mountain bikes for over 20 years all over the U.S and love it. Like it or not, foot and horse travel aren't compatible with each other. If I'm out hiking, I really don't want to be disturbed by an mtb rider hurtling down the trail. If I'm hiking and see a horse, well, that's kind of cool IMHO. Can't speak for horse people but I imagine they don't mind seeing folks on foot. Bikes are mechanized beasts and have their place. I think the best laws are the simple ones. Wilderness = no mechanization. Preserve the experience for the next generations to come.

Enve M-Series and Protective Rim Strip Technology - First Ride
No rim tape similar to UST. Seals the tire against to rim similar to UST. So exactly why did tire/rim manufacturers dump UST? Oh, that's right, because it was easier to market lighter tires and make consumers deal with flats with stupid sealant and other after market hacks.
