Its an awesome bike, it could take whatever I threw at it. The frame sizes are a bit odd, i'm 6' and was riding a small frame comfertably. But next to that its one of the best bikes I have ever owned!
I am sure it would work fine for your race, that is what it was made for.

Love the shot but i have to agree with you, amazing image, but the rider isn't the focus of the shot by any means.
