Kona Bicycles' Parent Company Appoints New CFO, Intends to Sell Brand
@MxMizrahi: This is what I've noticed. Kona has already set its sites on competing in the gravel/bikepacking market even before covid. And it's precisely what any new owner is gonna take from this acquisition. Basically Wish dot com level Salsa/Surly.

Shimano Releases New $160 Drivetrain - With 8 Gears
@deeeight: 0_0 why have i never heard of this? is it funky and clunky? what cassette are people pairing with it for 9 speeds though? this new one I guess? maybe CUES? I've been wanting to go MicroShift for a while but my Deore has just been running too good

Yeah that's all I was reading through this for. But it seems not surprising it's clutchless within that lower range. Maybe don't want to screw over their lowest end CUES clutched system by releasing this. Great for MicroShift cuz otherwise this would likely eat right into their market (still might do it tbh). But if it only has 'decent' spring tension, I'd rather have MicroShift's clutch system. Or just CUES/Deore

@ridingbiking: Yes, and in north america for brand new models it's almost down to like 10 models. I have ridden a 29er. Obviously totally fine bikes but I have to quite distinctly change my style of riding to use it and it's a more passive, controlled, fast style of riding. And sadly, for beginners it feels like a more forgiving roll over and better climbing experience (by a tiny margin). So basically every average rider and strava hound wants one, and the people who just wanna have fun and flick the bike all over every side hit of tight single track or twisty switchbacks is left in the dust :(

@christinachappetta: Unless I'm making a slopeduro out of a size small/medium 275 bike running 26s. Otherwise how else can I 360?? Won't catch me doing it on the 64 degree 29er rig in large lol

I REALLY, REALLY wanted to vote dual 275 bikes are most important just to skew the marketing data real quick but I hate to be dishonest. Anyone wanna draw up an over under on which year will have no dual 275 models from north american brands? We're already down to less than 10 models I think.

Video: Max Fredriksson’s Perspective on Why the Male Slopestyle Riders Decided to Not Compete at Crankworx Rotorua
@TTASS: Yep. The argument I was going for throughout this debacle was fix the lodging and catering and fix the schedule to avoid wind delays. Basically, agree on the logistical tasks. Then, as far as pay goes, compromise in so far as budget goes. Non-locals can have flight covered and local wildcards/alternates will get an appearance fee. (The goal here is to not have athletes end up literally in the negative on the trip despite being part of the show/event. The big guys who are winning are already the guys with bigger contracts and a cushion if they crash out, as well as earning win bonuses.)
