XCC Short Track Results from the Nove Mesto XC World Cup 2022
Sadly, you’ll see countless negative or derogatory comments on articles about any women’s sport, it’s far from exclusive to XC racing. Little wonder that there’s such a high dropout from sport amongst teenage girls, citing a fear of being judged as one of the key factors.

Video: Gee Atherton Shares Injury Recovery Update & Future Plans
So true about not missing out steps in the rehab process, the corrective exercises lay the foundations for the strength work to be built on. I’ve been hampered by a misaligned pelvis, which caused so many muscular and flexibility issues. The corrective exercises that I’m working through with my trainer are tough, but totally necessary if I’m going to get everything back where it should be.

Must Watch: 73-Year-Old North Shore Betty Proves You're Never Too Old to Send
I’m 57, still riding under my own steam and intend to do so for as long as I can. Still pretty fit, although my knees have suffered from my having a very active sporting history and biking is the big obsession now. While you can look after yourself as best you can, the wear and tear from physical activity is much harder to control. I’m a Brit, but I have an uncle from the USA, who served for many years in the US Navy as a diver in bomb disposal. His military career allowed him to do many adventure/extreme sports including skydiving and he made over 300 jumps. His body has taken a battering, he’s had hip and knee replacements, but in his 70’s, he doesn’t regret any of his choices.

Video: How To Hit Drops with Wade Simmons
Confidence in your technique and knowing that you rely on being able to produce the technique required is so important, especially when you start to tackle larger drops. It took me a while to hit one of the two well known drops on a DH run at my local, but once I’d done it a few times, I no longer think anything of it. The other drop however, remains one that I’ve still not attempted. Seen too many riders break themselves on it, I think.

Review: 2022 Transition Repeater - The Electric Sentinel
Transition make great bikes, there’s no question about that. I love my two year old Patrol and the Scout that I bought in January has made a massive impression too. Don’t have any issue with ebikes and it’s not really a surprise that Transition have now produced one, but as long as I can haul myself up those climbs under my own steam, I won’t be getting an ebike.

Burning Question: What Do Racers & Team Managers Think About Discovery Taking Over the World Cup Rights?
I can’t see the UCI pumping any of the money into mountain biking, especially Downhill, when they are only really interested in road and track cycling. We can but hope that Discovery will push the coverage and bring it to a broader audience, but don’t hold your breath. Subscription or worse still, PPV, will push a lot of viewers away

Discovery to Broadcast World Cup Coverage from 2023
This doesn’t bode well for the prospects of free coverage, if other sports on Discovery are any guide. The Olympics (both summer and winter) went from free to air on the BBC, to being broadcast on Discovery’s channels, with the BBC only getting a limited access to events. The UCI have have undoubtedly done this for the money, because if as seems likely, the mountain biking coverage becomes subscription only, there’ll be a drop in viewing figures.
