British Cycling Limits Transgender Women Competing in Female Categories
There’s a detailed and very well thought out video by the group, FairPlay For Women, which includes contributions from the likes of Daley Thompson, Sharon Davies and Mara Yamauchi, on the subject of Trans Women in Women’s sport.
It’s never been about complete exclusion, but about maintaining fairness. Being inclusive is fine, but not when it puts others at risk or at a disadvantage.
The very fact that every women’s World and Olympic record in track and field athletics, has been beaten by teenage boys, says everything you need to know about the advantages that males gain from puberty.

Video: DHaRCO Launches New Tech Party Shirts
A lot of bears with sore heads commenting on these shirts. Pretty sure that the majority of mountain bikers rode for the fun of it, and if that means having a bit of fun with the gear you wear too, what’s the issue?
I love the fact that DHaRCO don’t just stick to the boring solid colours across their range and produce a great variety of prints. It’s really good quality kit, too.
Added the leopard print party shirt to my collection a couple of weeks back, it’s lush.

Video: Hannah Barnes on Motherhood, Mountain Biking, & Instilling a Love of Riding
I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to Hannah at the World Cup Downhill in Fort Bill about five years ago. Always enjoyed watching the videos that she had done about her adventures on bikes and have to say, she is lovely, genuine, and down to earth.
What a great adventure this was, too.

Check Out: Even More Mountain Bike Apparel
Love the leopard print stuff from DHaARCO, but then, they’re my favourite MTB clothing brand.
I’ve had a pair of the gravity pants in leopard print for a while now, and bought one of the new leopard print tech party shirts last week. Shan’t be going full leopard as that might be too much, but there’s nowt wrong with a bit of fun with the kit.

Check Out: Even More Mountain Bike Apparel
Personally, I love the leopard print stuff from DHaRCO. I have a pair of the gravity pants and have just bought the short sleeved tech party shirt too. Not that I’ll be wearing the two together.

Jackson Goldstone Ruptures his Appendix
@beeekay: a dingy hospital reminds me of a story I was told by a mate a couple of weeks ago. A young woman flew to Turkey for a boob job, as it was cheaper than in the UK. Woke up from surgery and the doc said all had gone well, but they’d had to take a skin graft from her lower back as there was enough skin on her chest to complete the planned surgery.
All seems ok when she returned home, but she started feeling really ill, and was rushed to hospital after passing out. When she came to, the doctor informed her she was being treated for sepsis and then asked when had she had a kidney removed?

The Backhand Fist Stem Packs a Punch
Not sure where the idea stemmed from, but surely if you’re riding with the sleek, big cat, you’ve got to say “Jaaag” a la Clarkson, whenever you pass anyone….
Or would that just be April foolish?

Video : Stop Holding Your Trails Back - Easy Ways to Improve MTB Trails
I’ve been building and maintaining trails with my local volunteer group for about 4 years, the group running digs every other Saturday and Wednesday morning. On the dig today, we had 15 people turn up, so it was a productive morning.
The biggest blocker to progress in building and maintaining trails, is getting enough people to give up their time. If every rider gave up even just one morning to assist, it would make a big difference. It would also give them an appreciation of just how much work goes into maintaining a trail, let alone building new ones.
To keep trail builders happy….1: Don’t cut corners. If you want to ride in straight lines, go ride a road bike. 2: if there’s a puddle in the trail, don’t go around it, as this only makes the trail wider. 3: if there’s a feature in the trail that you can’t ride and there’s no chicken line, don’t create one. Maybe it’s an indication that the trail might be above your pay scale (tongue in cheek).
