YT Industries Begins Restructuring Under Self-Administration
Good luck to YT trying to entice new business, when they treat customers and clients like they have. Brand loyalty ought to be appreciated, not taken for granted. Bad customer service will lose you existing and new customers.

Junior Downhill World Cup Finals Will No Longer be Streamed on YouTube
Just another small step on the path to WBD/UCI, killing Downhill Racing off.

Pinkbike Poll: Singletrack or Fire Road Climbs?
I'm definitely a rider who'll find a comfortable gear and spin my way to the top, and while I wouldn't necessarily say that I enjoy climbing, there is something quite satisfying about hauling yourself up a couple of thousand feet of ascent, under your own steam, with no battery and motor to help you out.

[UPDATED] The UCI Releases the 2025 Mountain Bike World Cup Team List
No Mikayla Parton in the listing, that’s another Brit, along with ‘The Kestrel’, tha doesn’t appear to have a team, even though Adam Brayton is now riding for Madison Saracen.

First Ride: 2025 Pivot Trailcat SL and LT
Hoping to get a demo on a Switchblade fairly soon, but those big discounts that Pivot have been putting on their 2024 bikes are coming to an end. Lovely bikes, but so expensive. If I specced one up to match my 2020 Transition Patrol (which with custom spec, came in at just under £7k…dream build), it would close to £10k, which I am not playing for a bike.

World Cup Coverage to Cost £30 a Month With Shift to WBD's TNT Sports in the UK & Ireland
I am not at all surprised at this move, and it just seems like another step on the path to pushing cycling in general, not just mountain biking, into the background. I do currently subscribe to Sky Sports and TNT, as I enjoy watching other sports, but I hope to move home in the summer, and will not be taking my Pay TV subscriptions with me.
World Cup DH isn’t a big draw for non-bikers, so wouldn’t have a particular big audience when free to view, but its audience will be even smaller now. Are sponsors going to stick around with even less exposure?

The Pinkbike Podcast: Local Secret or Fair Game? The Dilemma of Riding Your Favorite Hidden Trails
Really lucky regarding my ‘local’ riding spot as the land managers are fairly tolerant of unofficial trails and there’s a good relationship between them and the trail pixies. However, big groups coming in, riding, and then posting videos on YouTube is definitely a contentious issue.
I volunteer with the local trail group, although we work on official trails, and I tend to stay off much of the unofficial stuff during the worst of the weather, as the trails can take a hammering.
Fully understand why many local riders prefer to keep the trails secret, when their hard work gets battered by riders who have no interest in getting on the tools to help with maintenance.

[UPDATED] Which DH Teams Will Get UCI World Series Team Status from Warner Bros. in 2025?
I’m still of the opinion that all these changes have done is confirm that the UCI and Warner (the TV company, not Rob), really don’t give a stuff about DH.
One almighty sh*t show.

Andreas Kolb Joins the YT Mob
Makes you wonder who will take his spot on the Atherton team?
With Rach pretty much retired from World Cups, perhaps a spot for one of the other women now seeking a factory race team….Marine Cabirou, perhaps?
