Big Wheels, Big Claims: 32" Wheels Are Actually Faster (According to Science)

I don't think it was ever in doubt that they're faster. But they're not going to work for short riders. So if everyone moves to 32in wheels, short riders that can't ride that size will be handicapped. And then in a few years time the industry decides 35in is the new thing, and then more shorter riders are excluded. Eventually we'll have XC racing only being for tall riders. Its a dangerous trajectory and I think the UCI should be stepping in and saying "no bigger than 29". If everyone switches to 32in, then there is no performance advantage, and some riders have been excluded. The only winners are the bike companies. The whole thing is driven purely by bike companies getting excited about selling new bikes (something they've been struggling with lately). Lastly, they look ridiculous in smaller sizes.
