Cycles Lapierre Suspends Funding for Lapierre PXR Racing Program
@bohemi: they probably will do. In the past they have wrapped frames instead of getting new ones for new sponsors (used to happen all the time with their TT bikes).
I know this as used to handle their sponsorship for another brand

Sort of see your point but also race teams are a luxury. They will be trying to make themselves look as profitable as possible to secure a new investor and not end up with the whole company failing

Don't think they were actually paying them much (if anything, now) funding for road teams is predominantly equipment and then you pay them a lump sum up front at the start of the season. Different to owning a team and paying their fee's as and when required of a title sponsor

@steviestokes: We used to call it the 3 day job. First day put the tubs on and inflate to stretch them. Second day put some glue on in the morning and fit the tyre in the evening.
Day 3 we would roll the tyres side to side by hand to check they wouldn't roll, reglue any edges and then paint the tyres with a liquid sealer

@maglor: 25% growth in high end bikes in China last year and 50% of the world's bikes were/are made there.
It's one of the few untouched markets right now with high earners, you can see the growth in things like run and Hyrox over there so I imagine they will just be playing on the first to market exclusivity

@in2falling: E-Bikes have overtaken in Europe for the last 3 years, believe in 2025 it was around 70% of total sales.
Certainly on the trails near us it is mostly e-bikes now
