@the-smith: yes with hindsight my original post is best understood from within the small builder sphere, and of course I aprieciate that we have more freedom of choice and oportunity than the workers discussed in the article.

@slayersxc17: Probably didn’t phrase my earlier comment very well, so sorry if it came across wrong. I was just pointing out the irony that a lot of riders talk about supporting small, fair, local builders, but still spend their money on mass-produced bikes made under poor working conditions.
If people really cared about who makes their bikes and how they’re treated, they’d be looking at the Bespoked builders instead.

If you really want to buy a bike where the manufacturer doesn’t get paid fairly, take a look at the Bespoked participant list and other small frame builders.
