There's some exciting stuff happening at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, BC, this year.
Here's a glimpse on location from Pinkbike contributor Ryan Kuhn. It's been a couple years since Ryan visited Kicking Horse. Here are the results of their hard efforts...
I've ridden a couple of days up at Kicking Horse and have mixed feelings about the trails. Some are really fun, but they could be made a whole lot better by making the jumps longer. There are a couple of sets where the jumps get smaller mid set - Which wrecks flow. There are also a fair few that are just way too small for the speed of the sections. Otherwise a fun mountain to be on. I hope they can sort out these issues...
I'm in the beginning of that sweet film. The guy loading his bike, wearing the red Norco jersey and riding the Specialized Demo. Riding that day was so awesome. I loved your video, great job guys.
Where's the techy, DH single track. That was the best thing about KHMR, and now I only see machine made double track and wood. Boring... If I go back to golden, I am shuttling Mt.7 instead to bring back Psychosis memories of TECHY DH SINGLE-TRACK. Thanks A-line, parks are now plagued with too much double track.
Now now, wait just a cotton pickin' minute. Pioneer-Claim Jumper-Wild Rose are still there. Can't expect Mr. Kuhn to show everything in one video. By golly, can't go and judge a park by one video. It's a bike park, which means it's an amusement park. Which means it has to please all sorts of personality types. Just hold yer horses and there will be a DH video showcasing that stuff in the near future. Gee willikers, all this jumping to conclusions reminds me of how World War III started, but I'll tell you that story later.
Flew out West this winter specifically to go to KHMR, locals are awesome there! As far for snowboarding I would go again in a heartbeat but for MTB I think I'd put up with the douches at Whistler for the trails. Golden in general is beautiful.
filter. Spiral Tap is designed to be progressive. You can exit at 2 places along the route. That little gap is there to keep nervous riders away from the big gap at the end.
Pilsner was originally brewed in lethbridge bud. While the riders fans may have adopted it for sask it has always been and still remains an albertan beer.
Loved the vid too a lot more shore than I remember when i rode there last.
