I like this addition to Pinkbike. I'm not too bothered about road cycling besides occasional workout rides, but it's interesting to keep tabs on what's happening in their world.

First Look: Giro's New Merit Helmet

Spherical is MIPS technology, just instead of the helmet rotating around your head, the helmet rotates around itself. The Bell Super Air uses the same tech.

The only reason everyone else was jumping it was because they knew the ramp wasn't there, pumping it would be faster without a doubt, you're pushing your momentum down the hill rather than letting gravity take you.

There's no doubt that VDP could ride this drop with ease, but you can see that he goes to pump it thinking the ramp was still in place and there's just nothing underneath him, gutted we never got to see a race to the line against Pidcock. Hopefully, his hip injury isn't too serious.

Ridden & Rated: 5 of the Best Convertible MTB Helmets for 2021

Pretty sure Bell or a distributor would have supplied an Air R or Super DH for this test, even if it meant holding off on this article for a week or two. Distributors usually have one or two kicking about to share with the media. The 3R is out of date compared to the tech and style of their newer offerings.
