who do you think would be faster on an MX? Dak or Gwin? It think that would be a fun race to watch. Not sure much Gwin rides moto anymore, but he did race quite a bit prior to borrowing a buddy's Yeti 303 and placing 10th in his first DH race.
Asa absolutely shred on a moto too! Would love to see a moto race again like in British pie where it was brendog, kerr, Asa, gwin, loic, dak, and some other heavy hitters on a moto
@stormracing: Luca is also really good on a moto but as I guy that also races moto that follows all these guys on instagram. Reece and Dak are probably fastest, im sure Gwin was really fast but im not sure he rides any more.
Everyone says Eliot Jackson is the fastest on a dirtbike though, he was a really good amateur back in the day.
Hi, dork here - there's motor bikes posted on this website almost everyday except this is the kinda motor bike that I dig. Dork out with your pork out.
@RadBartTaylor: for real though. If you not racing pro motocross 2 strokes are a lot of fun. They are also quieter if you have neighbors. I have a backyard mx track and only get noise complaints when loud piped 4strokes come over. Also and Purely my opinion but a 2stroke would be better for cross training dh. They free wheel and don’t compression brake which is more like an Mtb coming into corners. Either way mx is a great way to cross train for dh riding.
@RadBartTaylor: Two strokes, while slower, are more similar to MTB riding because they have like 1/3 the engine braking of thumpers when you chop the throttle.
@Struggleteam: I've honestly had better luck with neighbors on a four stroke with a 'quiet' pipe. Two stroke noise doesn't carry as far, and it's quieter overall, but a lot of people find the higher pitch sound more annoying.
@Glory831Guy: I don't really buy the engine braking argument - when you are riding hard you are not 'coasting' on a 4T....you can use engine braking to slow you down as another option besides brakes, but your are either accelerating or braking once you learn how to ride a 4T and stay on the throttle vs chopping it. Although bad practice, you can always pull in the clutch to offset braking. Modern 4T don't do it nearly as bad as some of the older ones.
@RadBartTaylor: nothing free wheels like a two-stroke though. I ride modern four strokes all the time and they still engine break when you let off the gas. Put any four stroke rider on a two stroke and they usually blow through the first corner. Regardless age old and Silly argument really. 2 strokes are harder to ride fast and harder to Jump properly. I like the challenge. + you can rebuild one in 2 hours with a butter knife.
@Struggleteam: this aggression will not stand man....
But yes, simplicity is king, no argument there.....maybe I am just used to 4T but don't notice the engine braking at all anymore although I had a 21 350 Kailub Russel that got tuned by Twisted and it barely had any engine braking.
@Ih8Hondas: I guess everyone’s different. However I see fat dudes at the track on 450s with little skill that seem to clear jumps doing a whole lot wrong.
Nah man, that’s where his powers come from. Rode the shuttle all day him all day at wind rock. It was like a Pantene commercial every time he took his lid off.
Never change, Dak!

The dude can rip....
fair point on noise - loud 4T are the worst.
