La Nina has been playing games with Vancouver Island mountain bikers, covering trails with snow from Victoria to Port Hardy in the last few weeks. Luckily the South Island warms up quickly and the trails are now open and ready for the kickoff of the 2011 Island Cup MTB Race Series.Pro City Racing hosts the first XC Race of 2011, Sunday March 13th at Hartland Mountain Bike Park in Victoria.

Course director Scott Mitchell offers this description:

"The new Hartland course is designed with classic cross country style emphasizing technical singletrack and shorter laps for better spectating. Little face, Crazy Horse, Rolly Ridge, Fire Drill, Crossover, N-Trail, Two trees, and Shock treatment will be some of the trails you can expect to ride. The trails are filled with rocks, and roots, expect early wet spring conditions. Beginners will race 1 laps, Intermediate will race 3 laps, Experts race 4 laps."
