@k-n-i-x-o-n: You would be surprised. I can feel the difference between 1/4 tank of gas and a full tank. The car is viscously under powered.

I have the Thule Revert and it's really great. I'd highly recommend it for smaller or mid-size vehicles, since it isn't overly heavy. For reference, mine's mounted on a Subaru Crosstrek. If I'd had a truck when I bought it a couple years ago, I would've gone with the Vellocirax instead as it seemed sturdier, but I was concerned about how heavy the rack was.

I don't know, I have Mavens and I am a fan. The Mavens made my Code RSC's feel like nothing. It makes me more confident when I ride because I know I can jam on the brakes and I will stop. I also ride a lot of bike park, so maybe a different perspective than you.

@zmums: I have no doubt that it's great quality, and I do like the style of their stuff I just wouldn't feel right about spending this kind of money on something to mountain bike in.

I rock a mouth guard in the bike park. I am pretty sure it saved me a concussion last year so I would recommend it to anyone doing DH.
