Tommy (Superstar) and I (Jaws) took a short trip to the Liban quarry. A place which we explored that has a very rich history and on the day that we were there it was really foggy and scary to wander around. We scoped it out and found so much potential for great shots at this place.
Look inside for Tommy's great pictures and story.
Liban Quarry- Cracow, PolandThe Liban Quarry is a well known place in Cracow, located in the old area of Cracow - Podgorze. The quarry was named after Bernard Liban - founder of the partnership "Liban & Ehrenpreis" which founded this quarry in 1873. After the war, the quarry was used for many things until the 1990's. Liban was the biggest quarry during the Second World War in Cracow and was last active during the years 1942-1944. In 1993, Steven Spielberg was fascinated about Liban. He choose this place as the scene for a concentration camp in Plaszow.
Some parts that were built for scenes in the movie, Schindler's List for over half a million dollars are still here - fragments of barbed wires, fences and a road built of old Jews ledger's. At the end of November, Tommy and I had the idea to visit this place and make a photo story. This place is totally sick for shooting photos, big machines eaten by rust, and everything surrounded by the mist. For a few moments Tommy and I were in the middle of this fearful place. Enjoy the pictures from that trip!
