Video: How a Virginia College Town Quietly Built an Appalachian MTB Paradise
Having lived there, worked at a local shop (Still rocking my Eastcoasters jersey's), and helped on those trails, the riding is awesome. The trail builders/local volunteers are also amazingly skilled riders (and crazy fast, I see you there in your cowboy hard hat) and they make and maintain trails for the whole range of riders. I would never worry about a lack of rock, roots, and gnarly stuff. There are a lot of trails to choose from, especially if you look around the broader area. Its a beautiful place to visit, I'd be there more but it's just a bit of a drive. Definitely miss it if you couldn't tell.

Shimano Files Patent for Two-Pronged Derailleur Hanger
13 years as a bike mechanic and I cannot remember a single time when the hanger breaking saved the derailleur (I am sure it happened, I just cant remember). Pulled hundreds of derailleurs out of wheels though, usually resulting in a new derailleur, hanger (if we could get them) and a wheel.
