Video: Cannondale Factory Racing's Charlie Aldridge, Alan Hatherly & Simon Andreassen Ride the New Crans Montana Course
It's difficult for event coordinators/track designers to push the limits of course difficulty--just look at this course and Dan's gap at Hardline. Rampage is great because the riders literally get to choose exactly how hard to push it. Hardline works because the atmosphere is low-pressure and there's plenty of practice and flexibility (as evidenced by the reroute this year). With higher-consequence features, a world cup XC race is a bad place to push course difficulty just for the sake of the viewership. If this track gets wet, and when the riders are redlining in crowded groups, this is simply dangerous. Fun to watch them ride it but not appropriate for this kind of event format, imo.
