@gilbert253: mount bachelor is waaay better than it used to be. There's a legit jump line and a couple pretty fun tech trails now. Most of the riding outside of that is pretty much the same, but it's definitely a good place to live if you ride mountain bikes. It's no Bellingham but it's good.

One other thing to try would be angleset + reduced offset fork. That combo also allows more weight on the front wheel, while maintaining confidence in the steeps and straights. It does slightly change how much the bike has to lean in corners though...
