Phoenix is a great riding city. I live near 1 of the 4 main spots to ride. The only issue is the heat involved... I love the riding. I don't ride much at the other areas as the one out my backdoor has the most vert. But if I commuted more often I'd probably be much happier. Tons of National teams come train here in the winter months, and it's definitely a great spot. some of the most technical riding I've done. If you ever make a trip, let me know I'd be a tour guide for phoenix/sedona/flagstaff for ya!
