Nice, how does the Talas 36's go one the Ragley?? i plan to build up a similar Bluepig next year.

TALAS 36 is just fine, I found the 130mm perfect for my XC/commuting, it also feels very natural and stable at 160mm. I may use the 100mm on some competitive XC riding or when hitting long uphills...despite that I think I'll fit the bike with my PIKE 454 Air U-turn - they are 0.2kg [0.5lb]lighter and will do the job just as well as Fox's.

Just watched it again.. really nice production quality.
All the focus pulling looks really dialed. What are you using (camera and edit)?
  • + 1
Cheers! I use Nikon D80 with Sigma 18-55 f2.8 glass. All focusing was done manually (rotating the lens's focus ring while recording). Took hell of a time to shoot and put together in Windows Movie Maker which was crashing every 5mins Smile The sound unfortunately does not go nicely along with the picture (common Pinkbike problem) hence for better play quality I'm uploading the movies on YouTube.

JEALOUS! I love building bikes. I am thinking of building an AM hardtail, maybe a Ragley or an OnOne
  • + 2
Both Ragley or 456 steel frames will be great starting point, they do not cost the fortune are have fantastic feel. Live's too short - just do it! Smile

I am gonna order an OnOne 456 evo soon, so stoked. This video was the final straw to make my decision to build my own!

Creating a new bike can be very exiting. Bikes off the shelf lack personality.

Where did you get the blue outer gear gable from?
  • + 1
Cables are Jagwire Ripcord series, sold in many colours, note there is only 2m of outer housing in the box. I got mine on Ebay.
  • + 1
Thanks for that, I couldn't find them anywhere. I'm deciding between a Blue Pig and a Genesis Alpitude at the moment. How's the Ragley been, any news?

Have not done a lot of off road riding on it yet so can not really comment. The Altitude looks more XC orientated, designed for shorter forks and I guess is lighter too.
  • + 1
hmmm, ultimate..... no but cool edit.
  • + 1
cheers! and yes, perhaps not the ideal bike for everyone or for any trail condition but worked for me, although I have upgraded it many times within two years of use. The bike is gone now as I have 'downgraded' to shorter travel Piglet frame - you can check out the new build (with focus on commuting and XC racing) in my albums.
