RIP Deer Park
A few weeks ago, our local jumps were bulldozed.
This is just a little video, compiling a bunch of the footage I have from the beginning to the end. A remembrance if you will.

I like this vid because we have all started out like this. 
I'm really sorry for the loss. 
And to all those who are hatin' You shouldn't be.......you were prolly like that at some point in time. Look at all the effort that has gone into those jumps.

It's the stupidest thing. 1 in 5 adults in our county mountain bike, yet there is almost no bike legal singletrack, and pretty much no legal jumps or parks.

it seems all communitys do, but in reality its just a few douchebags that call them in to the twon.

@satscratch, Yea its incredibly stupid. Marin is sooo full of bikers, but none of those bikers have any sort of powerful position when it comes to trails/ public land management. bikes are just hated by the local gov't because of liability and hated by the Park Service/Water District because of erosion. Marin has shitty mtb for the place that invented it.

so true. hopefully things will change in the next few years with the construction of the Stafford Lake Bike Bark and a couple of trails, but still, it's not the best.

If u live near deer park, The backside of china camp isnt that far away. Take gold hill fire road up from behind Dominican College, and there are some sick DH singletracks down from there. 7-11 and Hitler are good 1s.

We don't exactly know what happened. It's on the edge of a somewhat unused lot of land owned by the school district, and on the other side of the land there's a day care center. We talked to the day care center a month or so before the jumps got dozed, and they were super supportive and excited about the jumps being there, and they wanted us to keep building. But our guess is that the school district didn't like them (even though they don't use the land at all) and decided to bulldoze them.

ya i rode past last week and they didnt do a very thorough job. You've still got all the dirt right there, its just not in the shape of jumps. PS maybe, if u guys start a new spot, u should hide them. Cuz if people don't know about them, then they can't be bothered, right?

well, yes, obviously.
And it wouldn't be a very good idea to rebuild them after it's been made clear that the landowner doesn't want them there. We were only building out in the open like that because we had talked to the tenant and they were supportive, but now that the owner has made a statement that they are not supportive, it wouldn't be a very good idea to rebuild. But it would be really nice if we could.

Yea good Idea. Just make sure people are happy. Its never good when people keep building on peoples land when they dont want them too. I suggest either some well hidden jumps on public land, but if the town finds out they'll be gone in a week, or find a landowner who really is supportive. because jumps are too much of a pain in the ass to build to have them mowed down every few weeks
