Morzine 2011

 It scared the crap out of me for 3 seasons but this year I just decided, bollox to it, I'm going to hit it. It's lovely to ride, super smooth and easy to hit, but yeah, first time off was a little worrying!

 Yea I skipped it the first year I was there, the second year I had just come off a broken arm ( 9 weeks before France) so my confidence was low.

Now I'm heading out on the 20th ... so I'll see this year, it will completely depend on how confident im feeling at the time.

ps: I recognise your bike - we've met at Aston Hill before?

 It's surprisingly easy to hit the road gap, just roll in, no need to pedal, landing is super smooth and even if you short it a bit it's not an issue. Don't know why I couldn't do it the last few years..... You can go big or small off it and it's super smooth every time! Nightmare with the broken arm 9 weeks before your trip last year. Not been to Aston Hill I'm afraid mate.

 Cheers mate, There are soooo many trails out there you'll have no problem finding them! The drive prob took us 8 hours from Calais but we stopped loads for food and YOP! Stick to the speed limits ;-) the cameras aren't bright yellow like the UK!

 Nope, stuffed them in the back of our cars and took the ferry!

 We didn't unfortunately.... just ran out of time! Looks epic though!

 Yeah, would loved to have ridden that. Oh well, just have to go back again!

 I may be biased because it ripped my tire to pieces and with my friend who flatted in the same place we decided not to go by trail down and got lost but the new track is nothing special and the mini road gap is stupid. They should make a 2nd one over the 2nd road since unless you brake you land waaay past the landing and have no time to slow down = harsh bottom out on the 2nd road.

 When we went back for a second time we hit that trail and yeah the gap is stupid, the run in is steep so you carry too much speed and then overshoot, and as you say, you have to slam on the brakes. It's steep as hell and impossible in the wet. We dived off down some footpath instead of following the rest of the trail and it was the steepest thing we've ever ridden, insane!

 The one faaar on the left when looking up the hill from Morzine? Yeah that track is silly steep. Though still nothing beats the sheer stupidity of Champery steepness. Especially mid season when it is a bit beaten down and some of the safe lines are gone.
