All the flats are negg proping the clips and vise versa..they're both "better" it just comes down to personal preference and comfortability. Everyone has a different feel on their bikes and tracks..no reason to hate

i run both. theyre both awesome for different reasons. slowly veering towards spd's though, feels quicker. but thats all personal preference.

...all this arguing...chaps, just do what I do...spd on the left, flat on the right...can't go wrong

this comment may cause some mad negative props but oh well,
i think clips are better and make more sense, with a clip, once your foot is on the pedal and in the clip, its on, not going to blow off or slip off the pedal,
with a flat, you buy pedals with lots of pins in to keep your foot on, and buy shoes with realy grippy soles, to keep your feet on.
so in my oppinion clips are better and make more sense, obs there will be times when flats are better, minging muddy tracks.

But that isn't always true , i run 5.10s on good pedals and don't suffer with pedal slip at all , and i find more confidence from flats.
That said i run clipless on my Xc bike as it is more efficient for that style of riding i believe , it may also be better for Downhill , but i find i have more confidence with flats on loose wet tracks

i supose its like saying 'wanking with your left hand is better than the right' its personal preference and what your used to, there is no right or wrong pedal

When I deciding to go to spd's i started counting how many times my foot came off the pedal when I ran flats on a standard DH tracks with dry conditions.
Most of the time it was when my foot got blow of or if i was hitting a corner far to aggressive so i now decide to run clips but in saying that if its super wet, just going riding or super steep ill run flats.
