Uploaded this video for a good mate of mine. Kurt Teague. Thought i would because it's such an amazing edit.
"Last week, good friend Ned Bailey shot me a message saying Logan was in Melbourne for a few days and was looking at putting together some sort of edit. I jumped on the opportunity, and we started filming. The QLD shredder smashed out all these clips in a short 3 days."

Rotating the bars and spinning them are two different things.
It's like in skateboarding.
A frontside used to be your front side facing forward, and opposite for backside.
If you notice when skaters do a hand rail and slide back wards they call it a front side.
This is because a very popular video game back in the 90's got it wrong. Because the game was so popular, frontside and backside became reversed. Now a days if you try to tell even a top pro they got it wrong, you will look like an idiot, but being a skater back in the 80's, and going through old Thrasher magazines, the tricks became obscured and reversed.
Same concept here with bar spins. More modern bikes just have too low slung of a frame. This makes it almost impossible to pinch the bike. If you can not pinch the bike while throwing the bars, the front end will drop. So, the other way to prevent the front end dropping is by holding the bar all the way around.
A busdriver is when you guide the bars around with one hand. This has always been. If you google "busdriver, bmx", you will find an abundance of photos that look like one handed x-ups. If you google "x-up", you will find the same thing. When doing a bus, the bars are in fact "not" spinning. If you spin the bars, you throw with one hand and catch with the other.
I'm sure though that the two will be one in the same in the near future. The newer generation of kids only know how to guide the bar, and think it's a barspin so that's what they call it.
You can also look at some BMX history websites that give a distinct story about who, and when such tricks were invented. This way, it's indisputable.

a busdriver is called a barspin by most these days, it's become accepted to guide the bars around. sure, throwing the bars looks much better, but guiding them is still a barspin, just looks worse.

read paragraph 1 and 3. as i said if your rotating the bars then they can't be spinning and thus it can't be a barspin because a barspin is if the bars spin notice the word spin in barspin. By your logic a x up is half a bar spin

no it's not: if you push them it's a busdriver if you throw with one hand let go then catch them it's a barspin, they are different tricks

dude, wtf? what arent you understanding? spinning the bars is a BARspin, whatever you do and no matter how you do it, you still spin the bars and thats a barspin. Doesnt matter how you do it since you will still SPIN the BARS.

you keep contradicting yourself. If you push the bars round like this guy does that is rotating them not spinning them so it can't be a barspin like you said because that is when the bars spin.

A bus driver and a bar spin are in fact two different tricks. Guiding the bars IS NOT spinning them.
It's called a bus driver because bus drivers guide the steering wheel around with one hand on the wheel at all times while turning. A guy I just happen to know... Chris Moeller, did the first busdriver back in 1989. The reason he called it a bus driver is because at the time the tour van he was in was a VW bus and the trick looked like someone doing a U-turn with that big flat steering wheel. I'm pretty sure that by inventing a tick, he gets to name it. And oh yeah, he also owns S&M Bikes, so I'm pretty sure this is a credible source. The trick was actually an extension of and came from one-handed x-ups. The bar spin was later done around 1992-1993, and was named as such because the new version let the bars "spin" freely and unguided.
I understand that the Bus driver has been slowly renamed the bar spin, but that's just simply the result of an awful lot of ignorant riders having no clue what trick they are in fact doing. Go Google image search "one handed x-up", then Google image search "BMX Busdriver". Tell me they don't look exactly the same.

Shouldn't this make the bus driver (or rather Hairy Main's teachings) the "old school" version? I think this just goes to show that even pro riders don't have it all figured out, and the fact that they are good on a bike does not mean they should be teaching. This goes back to Mothership's initial post about skateboarding. One large infrastructure got it wrong, and the ignorant followed by the masses. Here we are again in but this time with BMX. A few guys at the top of the chain make a seemingly minor mistake, and the ignorant masses follow like it's the sound of the Pied Piper. Shame really.

I think I was taken more off guard by the purple pants and purple bike. I don't give a shit if you can quad whip to tripple footjam whip (previously known as a whip-it invented by Dave Volker) to double bar spin back in! You wear and ride purple and it makes everything you do g@y. Not to mention it looked like he raided his little sister's wardrobe for those pants. All his bike needs are some purple or pink streamers from the handle bars.

At 00:45 he says "f*ck Barspins, Literally". In his description he says he can do them, but can never pull them when the camera is out. Hmmm.......In another edit description he whines about not having any friends to ride with... After reading his postings, I'm not surprised as to why.

a busdriver is a barspin, holy frick. Thats like saying a no foot can with your legs not together is a completely different trick. Its just a different style.

A busdriver is a busdriver and a barspin is a barspin lol. The reason its a bus driver is because you guide the bars rather than then bars doing a spin. It's like the difference of say a no foot can and a mexican or potentially an indian air rather than 2 different styles of no footed can cans. Like sure you take your feet off and kick them to the side of the bike, but it's to different locations of the side of the bike. Same as a bus driver compared to a barspin. The bars do go around in a bus driver. but the orientation of the trick is done differently.

no. in competition do you think that the judges could notice if someone threw the bars or guided them? no, its the exact same trick. maybe on a bmx they call it a bus driver, but i guarantee if you go to any mountain bike competition, the judges are going to call a "bus driver" a bar spin.
