theres a little knob on the end of the tensioner that should be held in place by your drop out thing, that way the spring can work... other then that i dont have a clue what it could be(i have the same tensioner)and the same gloves...

i have a sillilar one and what i did is instead off pushing down i made it to push up. well i had to do because the derraileur hanger was striped and the screw was no longer holding on. so yea try my way. i also zip tied it. works great. never comes loose! give me your email. ill send you some pics of mine! hope it helps!

no not even close thats retarted. i fixed it a while ago. the scew just holds it onto the derialler...theres a spring inside and it has a little end on it that sticks out and goes into a hole inside the tensioner which holds everything in place. the peice on the spring bent off so it would just spin around in place. so i re bent it back and it was fine but it jstu re broke again. so i took it off and had my chain just tensioned properly without it
