Espresso Intermezzo

This one is for my friend Nicholas. He built the alcohol stove which is used here to make some espresso in the snow. Song: Iced Blade - The Pale Sun, jamendo.com

 WOW!
Very cool video brother!
Im happy to see the stove being put to use in a good snowy condition.
I have always wanted an Italian espresso maker, a great way to percolate a hot brew.

However, it looked like your flame was yellow and caused some soot.
Did you use isopropyl alcohol?
If so it contains water which will cause a yellow flame and cause soot on your pot.

If possible you need to find 100% methanol or 100% ethanol.
Methylated sprits or denatured is another name.

I know the source of alcohol may be hard to come by but, once you find where its sold its easy to get.
It took me 6 months to find it here in Japan.
Im America they sell the alcohol as a gas line antifreeze but here in Japan they dont have such a product.
However they have a syphon coffee maker which uses a small alcohol lamp to slowly percolate the coffee. The alcohol for this is a mix of 70% methanol and 30% ethanol which is sold for $3 for 500ml just 4 minutes from my house on foot, ahhhhahahhahha

Thank you for the video!
You did a great job!

Ethanol denatured 94% it says on the bottle, so maybe there's 6% water. I was just using up what I had at home anyway. So I'm going to buy some better alcohol if I can find it. Thank you for the information! BoilOn!

Yes, 94% ethanol should be awesome!
However even 99% isopropyl will cause soot too.

If you can get 100% then your set!

Great video, maybe more in the future edited into a trail ride?
hahahhahah

Yeah brother, it's amazing. Nicholas built five alcohol stoves for me and they are really useful. I hadn't seen any espresso in the Japanese videos and so I got the idea for this video.
